SBK – SPIES SCORES 11 POLES
Ben Spies, with a time of 1'42'' 412, set a new track record on the Portuguese circuit and claimed the highest ever number of pole positions in one season, no fewer than 11 out of 14.

Noriyuki Haga had trouble in qualifying, caused by the electronics on his Ducati, and only came tenth so he will start from the third row.

The Texan rider was as cool as a cucumber and in higher spirits than usual as he shared a joke with the Clinica Mobile staff and prepared for the race.

In SuperSport Eugene Laverty is in pole position, followed by Crutchlow : the two are battling it out for the Supersport world champion title.
