Never
ridden a bike? The Basic Course provides a safe and controlled environment
where you'll learn the basics of riding a motorcycle. It doesn't matter if
you've never squeezed a clutch lever -- or don't even know where it is!
Whether
you're totally new to riding or have only tagged along as a passenger, the goal
of this course is to kick-start your life as a motorcyclist. Learning something
new can be intimidating and the goal of our highly skilled instructors is to
remove those intimidating barriers. You'll find out how with the right support,
learning to ride can be easy and safe.
You'll be
learning on the
Monster 796, the lightest and most charismatic bike in its
class. Its low seat height and easy handling make it the perfect bike for a new
rider. You'll receive individual riding sessions as well as a just enough
theory to make your transformation from non-rider to rider immediate and enjoyable.
The basic
course will only be held if the minimum number of 12 riders is reached;
otherwise, you will be contacted and given the choice of selecting another
available date or receiving a full refund of the registration fee.
The basic
course is divided into groups of four and each person will be taught by a
qualified instructor. The course includes four individual practice sessions,
alternating with theory sessions designed to teach you the basics of motorcycle
riding (position on the bike, starting, braking and cornering).
The bike
used in this course is the
Monster 796 with a restricted engine to ensure
maximum safety for novice riders.
The
required gear includes leathers, gloves, boots and a full-face helmet. If you
can't provide any of these items, you can hire them when you purchase a course
online at this site (see the 'Clothing requirements' section for complete
details on the required gear).
You must be
18 or older to enroll in the basic course, although a motorcycle licence is not
required.
