WARRANTY
If the bike breaks down during the two-year warranty period, does Ducati offer a roadside recovery service and medical assistance?
Yes, but only in countries where the Ducati Card Roadside Recovery Service is available. For more information click here.

Is the Ducati warranty valid at all official dealers?
Yes. For your safety, and to preserve the validity of the warranty and the value of your bike, Ducati highly recommends that you always refer to the official Ducati service network. To find your nearest dealer click here.

What kinds of damage are covered by the warranty?
All those which Ducati verifies and recognises as deriving from manufacturing faults.

Is the warranty cover valid outside my country too?
Yes, it is valid worldwide.

Is DIY (Do It Yourself) maintenance allowed?
In order to protect your warranty rights, only the procedures described in the use and maintenance manual are allowed.

Does the warranty cover transfer to a new owner? How do we make the new situation official?
The duration of the warranty period is not affected by the number of owners the bike has during that time. Each of them in turn must complete the “First Change of Ownership” slip (which they can find in the Warranty Handbook) and send it with a copy of the registration document, for the attention of Customer Services, to this fax number (+39)-051-6413268 or to the following address:

MAINTENANCE
Are the warranty services free of charge?
The three compulsory services to be carried out during the warranty period must be entirely paid for by the customer.

Do the services have to be carried out by the dealer where the bike was purchased?
No. They can be done by any dealer in the official service network. To find you nearest dealer click here.

When does my Ducati have to go in for maintenance?
Bikes through MY 2006 are due for maintenance as follows:
Service "A": within 6 months or 1,000 km;
Service "B": within 12 months or 10,000 km;
Service "C": within 24 months or 20,000 km;
Service "D": within 36 months or 30,000 km;
etc...

Bikes from MY 2007 and on:
Service "A": within 6 months or 1000 km / 600 miles
Service "B": within 12 months or 12.000 km / 7.500 miles
Service "C": within 24 months or 24.000 km / 15.000 miles
Service "D": within 36 months or 36.000 km / 22.500 miles
ecc...

Remember that the service must be carried out as soon as one of the two deadlines indicated above is met (e.g., either 6 months or 1,000 km).
You can find details of the procedure to follow in the Warranty Handbook that accompanies your bike.

I would like a duplicate copy of my starter key. Can I get an original key?
  • If you have lost all the keys, it is not possible to make another copy of the starter key.
  • If the bike is equipped with an immobilizer, it is only possible to make duplicates, starting from the red key, by buying a blank key from a member of the official Ducati network.

  • Can I use unleaded fuel in my Ducati?
Yes, in all the models listed below from the years of production indicated and on:

    4 VALVES
    Model Produced from
    748 1995
    851 1988
    888 1993
    916 1994
    996 1999
    ST4 1999
    2 VALVES
    Model Produced from
    900 Monster 1991
    900 Supersport
    ST2

    750 Monster 1994
    750 Supersport

    600 Monster 1995
    600 Supersport

    400 Supersport 1995
    350 Supersport

All other bikes, dating from before 1991 are not equipped to use unleaded fuel. You would seriously risk abnormal wear to the exhaust valve seats, which would lead to valve clearance checks having to be done twice as often as usual. In addition, it would be necessary to use special additives. Modifications to the engine are not possible. Bikes produced before 1991 may use unleaded fuel providing the following rule is observed: the valve clearances must be checked every 5,000 km rather than every 10,000 km.
How much engine oil does my Ducati use on average?
For recent models, the average engine oil consumption per 1,000 km is 0.2 litre to 0.4 litre. Only the 900M and 900SS models produced up to 1997 use an average of 0.3 litre to 0.5 litre. These amounts are of course based on the normal use of bikes that have regularly followed the maintenance and prevention programme.
Where can I get hold of use and maintenance manuals for bikes that are over 10 years old?
You should send a written request to Customer Services. We will send you a copy of the use and maintenance manual for your bike free of charge, if it is still available.
Manuals required for models from 2000 onwards can be downloaded downloaded here.
I need to touch up a small area of paintwork on my Ducati. Could you tell me the colour code?
You can find the colour codes for your bike in the use and maintenance manual (2001 or newer).

If my tyres need replacing, do I have to use the same brand?
In general you can use brands of tyres different from the original equipment, as long as they conform to the standard measurements for your country.

What procedures do you recommend for the garaging of my bike over the winter?
We recommend that you give the bike a general cleaning, disconnect the battery cables, empty the fuel tank, pour enough engine oil into the threaded starter plug seats to form a protective layer over the inner cylinder walls, park the bike with the tyres off the ground and cover it with a breathable tarpaulin. While the bike is out of use, the battery must be charged periodically.

How can I check whether my Ducati has been the subject of any recall campaigns or updates?
By contacting the official Ducati sales and service network. To find your nearest dealer
I have received a letter from Ducati that says my bike is involved in a recall campaign. What do I have to do?
You should contact the official Ducati service network. To find your nearest dealer
What is the difference between a safety, an operational, an image recall campaign and an upgrade campaign?
The recall campaigns are corrective actions undertaken by the manufacturer in order to rectify any failures, malfunctions or defects that have occurred on sold products, which are therefore already on the road. A safety recall campaign relates to technical problems that can affect customer safety. An operational recall campaign relates to technical problems that may cause the bike to break down without affecting rider or passenger safety. An image recall campaign relates to technical problems that do not cause the bike to break down and do not affect safety. An upgrade campaign is used to eliminate problems with the image and/or operation of your bike and does not include a product recall. The necessary actions on the vehicle are carried out during scheduled maintenance servicing.

I have lost my Warranty Handbook. How can I get another copy?
It is not possible to have a duplicate of the Warranty Book

    SPARE PARTS/ACCESSORIES
How can I find out the prices of the various original Ducati products (accessories, spare parts)?
The prices of original Ducati products can be requested from the official Ducati sales network.

Can spare parts be purchased directly from Ducati?
No. They can only be purchased through the official Ducati sales network.

Can I buy the spare parts catalogue for my Ducati?
The spare parts catalogue can be ordered and purchased at Ducati stores and official dealers. The spare parts catalogues are only supplied on microfilm so you need an optical viewer to use them (or, they can be enlarged and printed onto paper). For model years 2000 or newer, they can also be downloaded from our website here.
