Where and when do the DRE courses take place?
The DRE courses are held on the dates and at the circuits indicated on the calendar available on the web site. Each course is one day long, from 8 am to about 6.30 pm. Please check the official calendar for further details.
Who can take part in the DRE courses?
You must be at least 18 years old when you book the course online. Unless you're signing up for the basic riding course, you must also have a valid licence that allows you to ride motorcycles of any engine size. You must bring your licence with you on the day of the course and present it upon request.
How can I sign up for a course?
You can only sign up for a course via the Ducati web site, of which you must also be a registered user. You can also purchase a course for another person (while logged in under your own User name); just be sure to fill in the participant data sections correctly. To sign up for a course, click on the BUY NOW menu button, select your preferred course and date, and complete the registration process:
:: indicate whether you would like to bring a guest,
:: indicate whether you need to hire any special equipment
:: decide how you want to pay and complete the registration.
As confirmation that the registration has been successfully completed, you'll be sent an "e-receipt" to your e-mail address. Please keep this receipt as a record of your registration and bring it with you when you attend the course. Ducati will not accept registrations via telephone, fax or e-mail.
What happens if I can't attend a course that I've signed up for? Can the registration be transferred to another date?
The DRE regulations DO NOT allow for dates to be changed once the registration has been processed. If it is impossible for you to attend, the DRE contract provides the following options:
:: Cancellation: You can withdraw from the participation contract within ten working days of registration by writing a letter (that also includes all booking reference information) that must be sent by registered post to the following address: Ducati Motor Holding spa, Servizio Clienti DRE, via Cavalieri Ducati n.3, 40132 - Bologna, Italy. For further information: tel. +39051 6413583, e-mail dre@ducati.com.
:: Name change: You can let someone take your place in the course. Your replacement must come to the course with the Name Change form included in the regulations (which must be signed by you, the original applicant), as well as a copy of your ID. Your replacement can take part in the same course that you registered for, provided your replacement meets the necessary requirements and fully accepts in writing all the obligations listed in the regulations originally intended for you. You are responsible for informing your replacement about the contents of these regulations. For the track Racing and Master Racing courses, please provide the DRE organisers (via telephone + e-mail) with your replacement's riding skill level no later than 11 working days before the course date (i.e., before the closing date for registration).
Under no circumstances will any other option different from those described above be offered.
How can I pay?
The online registration process allows two methods of payment:
:: Credit card: We accept Visa or Mastercard; pre-paid credit cards are also accepted as long as they belong to the Visa or Mastercard system and are compatible with online payment.
:: Bank transfer: If you select this form of payment, the web site will show the bank details necessary to carry out the transfer of funds into the current account of Ducati Motor Holding. If you choose this option, you must fax proof of payment to +39051 6413268 no later than 3 working days after sending your registration. It is crucial that you send the bank transfer form in order for your registration to be processed. If you do not send a copy of the bank transfer form within 3 days, your registration will be cancelled and you will not receive an e-receipt. In that case you will not be registered for any course.
Is there a closing date for course registrations?
There are a limited number of places available for the DRE courses. Registration must close 11 working days before the date of the course so that the day's events can be organised. If a course is filled before the closing date, registration for that day will close and you will be asked to choose an alternative date.
Are there any discounts available on the 2009 course prices?
Members of official Ducati clubs are offered a 15% discount off the course price. For information contact your club as soon as possible.
If I buy more than one DRE course in 2009, am I entitled to a discount?
If you buy a DRE course during 2009, you will be entitled to a 10% discount off a second course. The discount only applies to the purchase of a second course. For example, if you first buy the basic course, you can then get a discount on the purchase the intermediate course. However, if you purchase another basic course, a discount will also be applied. This also applies to track courses. The system will recognise your second purchase based on your registered username and password and will automatically apply the discount, if applicable (please wait 30 minutes to purchase the second course for technical requirements).
How can I give a DRE course as a gift?
To give a DRE course to another person as a gift you must:
- choose the date and the course
- hire the special clothing your friend requires (make sure you know what he or she needs and in what sizes before you proceed with the online purchase)
- log in (using your own username and password)
- enter your friend’s information (personal data and riding experience)
- continue the purchasing process through to the confirmation page.
Confirmation of the order (e-receipt) will be sent to you as the paying customer.
CLOTHING
Can clothing be hired?
You can hire special clothing (leathers, helmet, gloves and boots) on the DRE web site only at the time of registration. Please read the regulations available on the web site and check all the details concerning hire, such as the description of the items on the following link. We recommend that you wear a thin layer under your hired suit (such as a Lycra exercise or cycling outfit). DRE will not accept rental requests that come in after a course has already been purchased.
What special clothing is required?
To take part in any course you must wear properly fitting protective gear designed for motorcyclists, including a full-face helmet and leathers (one-piece or two-piece zipped around the waist) with reinforced forearms, shoulders and knees. Knee-scrapers are advised for track courses. You will also need a back protector, leather riding gloves and leather riding boots.
What can I do if the size I require is no longer available?
If the size you require when booking online is no longer available, there are two options:
:: Select another size that will fit.
:: Go back through the booking process and select a different date for the same course.
What can I do if I chose the wrong size in my online booking, but I've already sent the application?
Once the online application has been completed, it is not possible to change the size of items you've booked. If you've made a mistake, please e-mail DRE customer service at dre@ducati.com or call them at +39 051-6413583 as soon as possible.
