Ducati, the
only motorcycle manufacturer to
have been granted exhibition space at the highly prestigious and car-dedicated
Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2010, has received overwhelming
response that confirms the Italian company's significant interest in the
Chinese market. The massive show, which is billed as Asia's number one
automotive event, covered 180,000 square metres and attracted 2,100 exhibitors
and an estimated 700,000 visitors.
Ducati
presented its entire 2010 range at the Beijing event, including the Monster
696, Hypermotard 796, Streetfighter and the brand new Multistrada 1200, which proved to be a huge attraction on the
stand. Direct sales from the show are customary at the massive exhibition and
one wealthy Chinese visitor walked onto the Ducati stand and immediately
snapped-up the 1198 S ‘Corse', Streetfighter and new Multistrada 1200 models,
the first of their kind in China and imported specifically for the show.
Since
opening the Ducati Asia-Pacific sales co-ordination office and the recent
inauguration of its first Ducati store
in Shanghai, Ducati is now progressively building a sales network in
China.
"The results here confirm our efforts to exhibit at
this event," declared Mirko Bordiga, CEO of Ducati Asia Pacific. "Ducati's participation at the Beijing Motor
Show reinforces the role of our motorcycles as ambassadors of ‘Made in Italy'
and also confirms our decision to be present in a market with such massive
potential for development and opportunity, a market which is undoubtedly one of
the most dynamic and commercially interesting at this time. Our second Ducati
Store in China is due to open at the end of June and will be in Beijing, giving
the public the chance to purchase our motorcycles, accessories and apparel here
in the north of the country."
The
Beijing International Automotive Exhibition is open from 23
rd April
to 2
nd May.
