PODIUM SUCCESS FOR ZANETTI AND THE SS LAZIO MOTORSPORT TEAM AT BRNO

A fantastic race weekend at Brno for the SS Lazio Motorsport team and its young rider Lorenzo Zanetti, on board the Ducati 1198. Zanetti, a former 125 rider, is also a strong contender in the 2010 Italian Superstock 600 championship, where he currently lies in second position.

Competing in his first Superstock 1000 FIM Cup event, Zanetti made constant progress in the early sessions and, by the final stages of qualifying, his pace was good enough to be able to secure a place on the front row of the grid, in fourth position, separated from polesitter Badovini by just a few tenths of a second.

Sunday morning’s warm-up went well, with Lorenzo closing in sixth, and expectations were high for the race. As the race got underway, Zanetti made sure he delivered, immediately taking the lead and holding this position for the first five laps. Championship leader Ayrton Badovini subsequently caught and passed Lorenzo but this did not stop the young Ducati rider and, with the bit firmly between his teeth, he continued to fight for the victory until the very end. He crossed the line in an extremely well deserved second place, just two tenths from BMW rider Badovini.

Lorenzo would like to thank the entire team for the opportunity and the support.
