Our mission with the European Union
Safety has always been a top priority for Ducati and the company has now made a firm commitment by joining the European Road Safety Charter – 25,000 lives to save, a programme which encourages specific actions and increased awareness in order to reduce the number of victims on the roads.
As part of this project the Bologna-based firm has come up with a series of initiatives aimed at educating people on how to avoid certain high-risk behaviour, which could compromise their own safety and that of others, as well as what to do in case of an accident.

Ducati protects your passion
Since October 2008 every new Ducati owner in Europe has received a top of the range back protector to wear whenever they ride their bike: whether riding around town or taking on mountain bends or track corners. This Ducati initiative is not only designed to spread awareness and road safety among Ducati riders but also to make all riders more responsible by using appropriate protective clothing which also includes a back protector.

Since its launch at last year’s Cologne Trade Show, the Ducati’s safety campaign continues to grow. In almost 7 months 5000 back protectors have been delivered to new Ducati owners, as a clear sign of the validity of this campaign.

On the road with Lucky 13…
Ducati is committed to supporting the initiative promoted by ACEM, the motorcycle industry in Europe, which has decided on a comic strip to tackle the potential risks for road users. Lucky 13 is a clumsy character who explains what to remember when riding your bike. The goal of this campaign is to make motorcyclists more aware of the risks they face on the road, in an entertaining way. Take Lucky 13’s advice and ride safely!

Road safety school
Ducati has been organizing the Ducati Riding Experience for many years. It offers riding courses for every level, to learn the basics or acquire advanced riding skills. The main focus of these courses is on maintaining better control of the bike in different conditions and on how to avoid the potentially dangerous situations which come up every day. Common road riding conditions are examined, with the focus on how to handle them by applying specific riding techniques, all under the supervision of expert Ducati instructors.

The support of the Official Ducati Clubs
In support of its commitment and in order to achieve the EU objectives which this campaign has set itself, Ducati has asked its Official Clubs to become ambassadors for road safety. The aim is to share, both within and beyond the motorcycling community, the values of road safety, highlighting and promoting the good practices which the individual Clubs apply during their activities.
