Ducati fans came to Misano from as far afi eld as the USA, almost all the European countries, from far-off Australia and India and even Brazil, China, Malaysia, Gabon and... Nepal!
While surfaced roads are something of a rarity in some of these countries, there always seems to be someone who just can't live without their Ducati and decides to cross halfway around the world to experience a mind-blowing motorbike party set against the thrilling backdrop of Misano.
And it's not just the circuit but the whole town that gets caught up in the celebrations: during WDW every hotel, restaurant and bar has an army of Ducatis parked outside, ready to release that unmistakable twin-cylinder roar far into the summer night (or into the morning, depending on just how hard the partying is!).
The 10 winners of the Ducati Garage Contest, organised via the WDW website, saw their "stars" become the centrepiece of a dedicated area where the motorcycle magazines organized photo shoots and the WDW public could get a close look at them and vote for their favourites.
Inside the Misano paddocks visitors to the Red Galaxy could roam from fascinating planet to planet: there
was the Multistrada planet, another dedicated to the Desmosedici RR, one inhabited by sexy sponge
girls ready to perform a provocative bike-wash.
And then, of course, there was the Ducati Corse planet with riders and prototypes drawing fans in like a magnet.
The highlights of this incredibly successful event came on the event-packed Saturday: the stuntman shows were simply mesmerizing and the evening closed with one heck of a big bang - drag races that saw the offi cial Ducati riders (MotoGP and SBK) battle it out on ultra-powerful Streetfi ghters to see who would be the last man standing!
To fi nish, a massive barbecue, concerts and the Red Planet Show: an explosion of dancing and tribal rhythms to provide the perfect backing for that unparalleled Ducati pride.
In short, the event was a smashing success in every respect, a fun, exciting experience for the tens of thousands of motorcyclists who met at the Misano World Circuit.
