Produced in a limited series of just 100 numbered units, the Panigale V4 Tricolore is the first Ducati Tricolore to feature a standard technical specification specifically designed for track performance. The story of the Tricolore begins with the 750 F1, the motorcycle that marked Ducati’s official return to racing. With its trellis frame, destined to become an icon, and as the final masterpiece of engineer Fabio Taglioni, the 750 F1 represents a defining chapter in Ducati’s history. The decision by the Castiglioni brothers, Ducati’s owners at the time, to adopt the Tricolore livery was no coincidence: it was a symbol of rebirth, a way of telling the world that Ducati was back and ready to win again. And so it did. With its iconic livery, the 750 F1 went on to achieve important victories, including a triumph in the legendary 24 Hours of Montjuïc. 

After that success, the Tricolore began to appear on production motorcycles as well, cementing its presence with the 851, a landmark model that introduced the liquid-cooled four-valve engine. During this period, Ducati was preparing to dominate Superbike racing, and Ducati Red became both a symbol of supremacy on the track and an object of desire among motorcycle enthusiasts.

Almost twenty years later, the Tricolore returned in force with the 1098 S Tricolore, a motorcycle created to bring Ducati back to the top, this time in the marketplace. Once again, the challenge was won. On June 2, 2024, at the Mugello Circuit, Ducati achieved a historic one-two finish at the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix. An extraordinary result, secured by Desmosedici GP machines wearing a special light blue livery as a tribute to the Italian National Team. That triumph, on Italy’s Republic Day, established the Ducati Lenovo Team as the Italian national team of two wheels, giving Ducatisti a moment of pride that will remain in their hearts for years to come.
