The Ducati Foundation recently contributed to the recovery, restoration and digitisation of very precious materials for the Company's history: original and unpublished images shot by Leopoldo Tartarini and Giorgio Monetti during their extraordinary journey around the world from 30 September 1957 to 5 September 1958.
Sixty years after that epic undertaking, Ducati is celebrating the two Ducati employees with a temporary exhibition inside the Museum. Visitors to the exhibition can admire the original Ducati 175s the two men rode as they crossed the planet's five continents and travelled over 100,000 km.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on 7th October 2018 and will be open until 31st January 2019.
The restoration and digitisation of the images also contributed to the creation of the volume ROAD MAP, il leggendario giro del mondo di Tartarini & Monetti su Ducati 175 (ROAD MAP, Tartarini & Monetti's Legendary World Tour on Ducati 175s) that features images of the trip and some previously unpublished letters that the two globetrotters sent their family and Ducati executives. The book will be on sale in October at the Ducati bookshop, in book stores and digital stores.
