Barni Racing Team 2017 WorldSBK season ended with a fifth place of Xavi Forés in Race 2 at Losail International Circuit in Qatar. The Spaniard had a spectacular recovery making a whole string of overtake crossing the finish line only eight second far from the leader Rea and four from the podium. Forés had the same pace of the leading group but he was penalized by the 11th position in the starting grid due to the retirement in race 1.

The flag bearer of the Barni Racing Team didn't have a good start and at the beginning he was forced to battle in the middle of the group. Moved up thanks to the crash of Torres and Sykes, Forés showed his feeling with his Ducati Panigale R overtaking Guintoli, Laverty and finally Melandri being fifth under the checkered flag.
Despite it was a positive result, it leaved a bitter taste in the mouth because the starting from the back prevented Xavi to fight for the podium, missed once again as a result of misfortune.
However the 2017 season ended with a positive balance of sheet: the Barni Racing Team was the best private team in Motul FIM World SBK Championship, Forés closed his season with 196 points (45 more than last year) seventh in the overall standings.

Marco Barnabò, Principal Manager
«We back to home with a bitter taste in the mouth because we could fight for podium both in race 1 and race 2, but yesterday we was out of luck and today we started from the back. We lost ground in the first two laps, than Xavi managed to ride on the same pace of Davies.
I'm sad because we missed the podium lots of times in this season, the rider and the crew deserved it, but we was persecuted by the adversity. Without the technical problem suffered when we was fighting for the podium a better place in the Championship would be possible. In this season the level of competitiveness was grown but we improved our result. Xavi has more points and a better place in the Championship than 2016, but the podium never came».

Xavi Forés, #12
«I'm not happy because the podium seemed to be possible. Unfortunately i hadn't a brilliant start, i was stuck in traffic and than it was impossible to catch the leading group.
In comparison to the last season we improved a lot, we was the best private team in the Championship and we fought constantly with official riders, but in future i hope to get on the podium in order to crowning our efforts. We worked hard all the time and i have to thank a lot all the Barni Racing Team's guys ».
