To take part in any course you must wear properly fitting protective gear, including a full-face helmet, a padded leather suit (one-piece or two-piece zipped around the waist) with protectors on the forearms, shoulders and shins as well as knee-pads, gloves and boots. A back protector is strongly advised for the Intermediate, Racing and Masters Racing courses, although it is not required.

Anybody who arrives without the required clothing will not be allowed to take part in the courses.

For this season also, you can hire special equipment (suit, helmet, gloves and boots), which can be booked when you sign up for a course on the DRE website. You may hire one or more items according to your individual requirements.

Types of clothing available for hire:

LEATHER GEAR: Ducati and/or Dainese suits are available in men's and women's versions. The men's suit is all-in-one and includes a back protector and protective back hump. The women's suit comes in two parts (the jacket and pants are attached with a zipper) without a back protector or protective back hump. The women's gear also does not have kneepads but it does feature protectors on the inside. For hygiene reasons, we recommend that you wear something thin under your hired suit (such as a Lycra exercise or cycling outfit).

Fit: When hiring a suit please remember that leathers are of a smaller fit than normal clothing because of the protectors and the stiffness of the material. For this reason we recommend that you choose a suit one size larger than your normal clothing size.

HELMET: All the helmets available for hire are full-face with a clear visor.

BOOTS: There are various styles of boots available for hire, from touring bike boots to special track boots with sliders. You cannot choose your preferred style of boot (basic or track style) at the time of booking. The organisers will allocate the most suitable boots for each participant. Those taking part in the track courses will be the first to receive the special boots, while participants on the beginner's riding course for women or men will use the basic style.

GLOVES: There are different styles of gloves available, from basic ones to protective, track ones. As with the boots, the gloves will be allocated according to the course.
Rented Gear: Collection and return. Upon purchase of your DRE course there is also an opportunity to rent riding gear. It is important to pay close attention to the size and type of each item rented. Information is available in order to help you select the correct size.
Clothing hired on-line can be collected on the morning of the course upon registration. Some form of I.D. must be left with the organisers upon collection of the equipment. Your I.D. will be returned when the equipment is handed back at the end of the course.
