Desmosedici Stradale R: derived from MotoGP
Designed to respect WorldSBK specifications, the 998 cc Desmosedici Stradale R delivers 208.4 hp at 13,250 rpm, becoming 239 hp at 15,570 rpm* thanks to the racing exhaust and Shell Performance Oil by Ducati Corse. The closest Ducati road-going engine to that of the DesmosediciGP, boasts torque and power curves that are higher across the entire delivery range. **The Panigale V4 R can reach 239 hp in closed-course configuration with the combination of the complete racing exhaust and dedicated Shell Oil. The racing exhaust is intended for vehicles used only in closed-course circuits. Operation on public roads is prohibited by law.
The only road bike with Racing Gearbox and Neutral Lock
The new Panigale V4 R is the first homologated sports bike to feature a race-style gear pattern. The Ducati Racing Gearbox (DRG) sees neutral positioned beneath first gear, rather than between first and second, to ensure sufficient engine brake in the final and most delicate phase of braking when entering a first gear corner. The absence of neutral between first and second also ensures quicker, smoother and more repeatable shifting between these two gears with respect to a gearbox with road configuration. To prevent accidental downshifting from first to neutral, the gearbox features the patented Ducati Neutral Lock (DNL), which can be deactivated using the dedicated lever on the right semi-handlebar. To engage neutral, the rider must carry out the same actions as official riders in MotoGP and Superbike.
The first homologated bike with Corner Sidepods
Developed by Ducati Corse, the aerodynamics of the Panigale V4 R introduce Corner Sidepods for the first time on a sports bike homologated for road use. Corner Sidepods allow the rider to corner at higher speeds and trace a tighter, more precise line. Designed to intervene at extreme lean angles, Corner Sidepods generate an aerodynamic-like system of forces that makes for higher cornering speeds and lower lap times. In addition, the design of new winglets, with a larger surface area, increases the vertical load by 25% with respect to the previous generation.
Completely redesigned chassis
The new Panigale V4 R retains the frame and swingarm design of the Panigale V4. The Front Frame sees a 40% reduction in lateral stiffness with respect to that of the previous Panigale V4 R. The Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm, strongly supported by Ducati Corse, ensures greater stability in acceleration. A complex, sophisticated, and elegant structure that provides the same sense of connection between front and rear.
New Öhlins mechanical suspension
The Panigale V4 R adopts professional Öhlins mechanical suspension as opposed to the semi-active suspension of the V4 S. The Öhlins NPX25/30 Ø 43 mm pressurized fork with TiN-treated stanchions is paired with an Öhlins TTX36 shock, complete with hydraulic preload adjuster to facilitate adjustment. The monoshock can be fitted with the rear suspension linear stroke sensor.
Adjustable rear suspension tie-rod
As on SBK bikes, adjustment of the rear height is now carried out using the adjustable suspension tie-rod, and not by modifying shock length. The steel tie-rod acts on bearings, and has a design derived from that used in SBK. With respect to the previous adjustment system, the rider can intervene with greater precision and benefit from a wider range of adjustment.
Even more advanced electronics
The Panigale V4 R integrates more advanced electronic strategies for use on track and road. With respect to the Panigale V4 S, the main new features include Race Brake Control (RBC), for sports riding, and Engine Brake Control (EBC) DVO, which uses the Ducati Vehicle Observer algorithm to precisely manage the engine brake. This allows for more accurate control of the forces applied to the tire, making the engine brake action more gradual and predictable. The Race Brake Control logic is the result of internal Ducati development and allows riders to emulate the riding techniques of professional riders with results that outstrip even those achieved by the Panigale V4.
A special numbered series
The Panigale V4 R is produced as a numbered series, with the progressive number and name of the model featured on the steering head to emphasise its exclusivity.
*The Panigale V4 R can reach 239 hp in closed-course configuration with the combination of the complete racing exhaust and dedicated Shell Oil. The racing exhaust is intended for vehicles used only in closed-course circuits. Operation on public roads is prohibited by law.
