Saturday at Most delivered plenty of thrills, with Nicolò Bulega and Iker Lecuona starring in an extraordinary Race 1.
The two Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team's riders battled it out for 20 laps, swapping the lead five times.
Starting from P3, Lecuona took four laps to overtake Montella (Ducati) and immediately set his sights on his team-mate. Bulega held the lead until the fifteenth lap before being overtaken by the Spaniard. From that moment on, it was a thrilling head-to-head battle until the decisive counter-overtake by the current World Superbike Championship leader, who secured his seventeenth consecutive victory.
Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #11)
“It was an intense race and I'm very happy with this result, especially as I had to deal with a minor technical issue that held me back a bit. The duel with Iker was still very exciting. I still don't feel I'm at one hundred per cent in this round. I hope to find a bit more tomorrow.”
Iker Lecuona (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #7)
“Yes, it's another second place. But this time I'm very happy because we've taken another step forward and got much closer to Nicolò, our target. We're still missing a few details to get to the front, but we'll certainly try again tomorrow.”
