The Most Adventurous Journey

With Multistrada V4 Rally to Mount Everest

The adventure of Pontus Hagen who traveled more than 10,000 km, from Thailand to Everest, riding the Multistrada V4 Rally.
Between thoughts and heights: a journey from Thailand to Everest

Living for twenty-five years in Thailand, after growing up in Sweden, taught me that the concept of home is something that is constantly redefining itself. When the opportunity arose to embark on a motorcycle trip to Everest Base Camp with four other companions, I thought less about the destination and more about the feelings I would experience along the way.

Over 10,000 kilometers between Thailand, Laos, China and Tibet, it was not just a physical challenge, but also a kind of journey into my personal history. Each morning, tireness gave way to amazement at the landscapes crossed, and, often, I wondered what I was really looking for: the thrill of discovery, the silent companionship of the road, the confrontation with my limits?

Reaching the 5,200 meters of Everest Base Camp was a suspended moment, more intimate than celebratory. The sunrise over the peaks was beautiful, of course, but what I will remember most is the feeling of being small, grateful and full of questions. Perhaps the most intense moments were when, driving through China or tackling challenging offroad stretches, I felt the privilege and fragility of being there, balanced between elation and awe.

Before leaving, I relied on my Multistrada V4 Rally, carefully chosen for its tank capacity and promise of reliability. On the road, however, I realized that safety is never absolute and that every day the road teaches something, whether it is the need to dress in layers for the bitter cold or the desire to allow oneself to be surprised, despite expectations.

As the journey home continues, I keep questioning what drives me to leave, again and again. Perhaps, more than the destination, it is the desire to hear my thoughts in the helmet, to experience full, though sometimes difficult days. And if there really is a reward in the end, perhaps it will be this new awareness, gained from altitude and miles, that will accompany me wherever I go.
