The entire Multistrada 1260 family is equipped with the Brembo brake system which is equipped with ABS 9.1ME Cornering, an integral part of the Ducati Safety Pack (DSP). ABS Cornering utilizes Bosch's IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) platform to maximize balancing of the braking power delivered to the front and rear wheels, even in critical situations and with the motorcycle in an inclined position. By interacting with the driving position, the system can offer the perfect solution for every situation and driving conditions. Thanks to an ABS control processor, Multistrada has a front and rear electronically combined braking system, optimized for Urban and Touring driving modes, and utilizes reduced control in sport mode, a context where preferences are given to non-automated steering. The combined braking system increases the brake stability by using four pressure sensors to best distribute the braking force between the front and rear wheels. Developed to improve rear tire control in abrupt braking situations, the ABS system's anti-rear wheel lift function is fully activated in Urban and Touring driving modes. The ABS function is also available only for the front brake, a function that Multistrada utilizes in the Enduro driving position for locking and rear wheel loading when braking on uneven ground. ABS functions can also be switched off the dashboard in Enduro run mode and can be saved and reused the same settings the next time the ignition is turned on. The system integrates perfectly with Ducati Riding Modes and interacts on three different levels. Level 2 ensures balance between front and rear without rear wheel lift detection when driving in sport mode, but with the Cornering function activated and calibrated for a sporty character. Level 3 provides optimization of the combined braking performance of the Touring and Urban driving modes with anti-rear wheel lift protection for maximum safety and the Cornering function activated and calibrated for ultimate safety. Level 1 offers the highest performance for road use, eliminating the rear wheel lift detection feature and allowing rear wheel loading when braking, with ABS only engaged at the front. The Multistrada 1260 is equipped with dual Brembo 32 mm diameter 4-piston monobloc radial brake calipers, radial pumps with adjustable controls and 320 mm brake discs. At the rear is a 265 mm brake disc with a floating caliper, again labeled Brembo. These components ensure braking performance that sets the standard for the entire motorcycle industry, a feature that has always been common to all Ducati motorcycles.
In the 1260 S version, the braking system is now even more powerful, borrowed directly from Ducati's own Superbike machines: with brake discs with 330 mm diameter front and Brembo M50 4-piston monobloc radial brake caliper. The ABS system is designed to improve the control of the rear tire during violent braking, and is fully active in Urban and Touring driving modes. The ABS function is also available only for the front brakes, a function that Multistrada uses in the Enduro driving position to lock and drive the rear wheels with braking in rough terrain. However, ABS is disconnected in Enduro driving mode and allows storage and reuse of the same settings that are saved the next time the ignition is turned on. The system integrates seamlessly with Ducati Riding Mode and works on three different levels. Level 2 ensures balance between front and rear without detecting rear wheel lift when driving in sport mode, but with the Cornering function active and calibrated for sporty driving. Level 3 optimizes the combined braking performance of Touring and Urban mode with anti-rear wheel lift activated for maximum safety and the Cornering function active and calibrated for maximum safety. Level 1 provides maximum performance for use in off-road driving, without detection of rear wheel lift and allows for braking when braking, with ABS only activated at the front. The front brake system of the new Multi 1260 is characterized by Brembo radial monobloc 4-piston calipers, radial pumps with adjustable controls and dual 320 mm brake discs. Instead we find a single 265 mm brake disc together with a Brembo caliper. This component ensures performance that sets the standard throughout the motorcycle industry, which has always been a hallmark of every Ducati. In the 1260 version S, the braking system has been further improved, borrowed directly from Ducati's superbike machines: with 330 mm brake discs and Brembo M50 radial monoblock 4-piston calipers.
