Built on the dark soil of Saxony and featuring a technical and fast layout, the Teutschenthal track hosted the seventh round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship—the MXGP of Germany—this weekend. Following a sunny Saturday dedicated to practice sessions and the qualifying race, heavy rains on Sunday morning transformed the German circuit into a muddy quagmire, scarred by deep ruts that put both bikes and riders to the ultimate test.
Andrea Bonacorsi's weekend concluded with a strong second moto and a tenth-place finish overall. Aboard his Desmo450 MX, he got off to a good start in Race 1 but was clipped by a competitor, resulting in a tough crash in the mud. Restarting from outside the top 30, the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team rider fought his way back up to 24th place before a second crash forced him to retire early due to a damaged bike. In Race 2, his launch from the starting gate was excellent; however, Andrea was once again pushed wide by another rider—though this time he managed to stay upright. Riding an excellent first half of the race, he broke into the top ten, setting the sixth-fastest lap time overall, and finished in tenth place a moto fiercely contested right up to the final corner.
After posting the fifth-fastest time during the morning warm-up session, Calvin Vlaanderen managed to get a strong jump off the gate of the first moto. He quickly secured tenth place—a position he held until seven laps from the finish, when a technical issue forced him to pull out of the race. The start of the second moto proved more challenging; the Dutchman crossed the finish line outside the top 20 on the opening lap and attempted a comeback that was slowed by the difficult track conditions, ultimately finishing in 15th place after crashing on the eleventh lap.
Andrea Bonacorsi
“We had a positive day on Saturday; I improved with every track outing and finished ninth in the qualifying race. I felt good this morning; in Race 1, I got off to a good start, but then another rider hit me from behind, causing me to crash and restart well down the pack. I began a strong recovery, but a second crash damaged the bike, and I was forced to stop. In Race 2, I made a decent start, but a contact in the first corner caused me to lose a few positions. I did some good overtakes, broke into the top ten, and finished tenth in what was a solid moto.”
Calvin Vlaanderen
“It was a disappointing day for me. We got a problem in the first moto that forced us to stop, then in second moto I didn't had a good start, I've made some pass and then I had a small crash and I've tried my best to do what I can. Obviously this is not the results that I want, so we need to work to make this happen and start fighting in the front.”
MX2
Race 1 proved unfortunate for Ferruccio Zanchi, who was forced to make a pit stop during the very first lap to fix an issue with his seat. Restarting dead last, the Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team rider managed to come back through the pack back to 15th place after a moto spent entirely on the charge. Good jump out off the gate in the second moto—despite a difficult starting position—for "Ferro" that immediately breaking into the top ten. However, a crash during the second lap dropped him back five positions, compromising his final result; finishing 13th after the 17-lap race.
EMX250
After securing a positive eighth-place finish in the first moto held on Saturday, Simone Mancini faced off against his rivals in the second moto of the EMX250 German Grand Prix—a race contested under extreme conditions after have rains literally flooded the track on Sunday morning. Getting off to a strong start on his Desmo250 MX, Simone battled through the mud for half of the race for sixth place, before a technical issue forced him to retire just five laps from the finish, while he was fighting for a potential podium spot.
Ferruccio Zanchi
“It was a difficult weekend, with the track in very challenging conditions. We had a good Saturday right up until the qualifying race, where—due to contact with two riders—I was forced to retire, sustaining several grazes and a burn to my leg. At the start of the first moto, a technical issue slowed me down, but I managed to work my way back up through the field. In the second moto, I managed to pull off a great start from an outside gate, but a crash during the opening laps compromised my final result. We're staying positive and heading to Kegums with the aim of improving.”
Simone Mancini
“It was quite a complicated weekend, starting with the first moto, where I struggled to find my rhythm and get a good feel for the track. In Race 2, the track conditions were extreme, and we encountered a minor technical issue that prevented us from finishing the moto. We're looking ahead now and will continue working forward, step by step.”
