Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 16 December 2025 – Once again, the talent of the University of Bologna students has proven itself on the track, with the UniBo Motorsport Team climbing onto the top step of the MotoStudent International Competition podium for the third consecutive time.
The biennial competition this year involved 42 teams from various universities around the world. The 2025 edition took place from October 15-19 at MotorLand Aragón and saw Vega#88, the electric prototype developed by the UniBo Motorsport Team in collaboration with Ducati engineers and raced by test rider Alessio Aldrovandi, stand out.
This victory, built over two years of work, was the focus of a meeting on the morning of 15 December hosted by Fisica in Moto Powered by Lenovo, the Fondazione Ducati laboratory created to introduce young students to the principles of applied physics. On this occasion, the students retraced the main stages of the project together with Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO and President of Fondazione Ducati, Giovanni Molari, Magnificent Rector of the University of Bologna, Nicolò Cavina, Faculty Advisor of the UniBo Motorsport team, and Simone Di Piazza, Ducati Innovation and R&D Services Manager.
"We are proud of the UniBo Motorsport Team's third consecutive victory and of the collaborative relationship we have built over time with the University of Bologna. It is a bond we deeply believe in and, almost twenty years after the creation of Fondazione Ducati, it has led to many young students from the world of education joining Ducati, representing a concrete investment in the preparation of colleagues of tomorrow," said Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati and President of Fondazione Ducati. "The results of the MotoStudent project demonstrate the value of this shared journey, fully embodying a famous quote from Plutarch, according to which students are not vessels to be filled, but fires to be lit."
"This success is the result of a path of educational, technological, and sporting excellence, made possible by the close partnership between Alma Mater Studiorum and Ducati: a virtuous example of integration between academia and industry, which gives rise to innovation, expertise, and concrete results," said Giovanni Molari, Magnificent Rector of the University of Bologna. "MotoStudent is much more than a competition; it's an extraordinary laboratory where students learn advanced design, project management, testing, validation, and communication. For this very reason, the results achieved by the UniBo Motorsport Team are a source of pride for our entire community and a strong signal of the quality of the Alma Mater Studiorum's educational programs."
UniBo Motorsport, supported by Fondazione Ducati, is one of the training projects promoted by the Borgo Panigale motorcycle manufacturer, and this third success confirms the validity of a collaborative model that allows students to experience the dynamics, processes, and responsibilities similar to those of a corporate environment.
This approach reflects the mission of the Fondazione Ducati, which has been active since 2006 in promoting excellent educational programs and enhancing the cultural heritage of the region. Among the Fondazione's projects is Fisica in Moto Powered by Lenovo, a laboratory that welcomes thousands of high school students every year, offering an educational experience dedicated to the principles of physics applied to the world of two-wheels through interactive activities.
This is complemented by DESI – Dual Education System Italy, a two-year training program that combines school education with in-company practical training, with the aim of strengthening the technical skills of students and encouraging the inclusion of specialized professionals in the industrial fabric of Motor Valley.
Ducati is also an active member of the MUNER – Motor Valley University of Emilia-Romagna association, which unites the region's universities and the main Motor Valley entities to offer international university courses in advanced engineering taught in English.
In this context, for Ducati, training is a responsibility built on applied development experiences, allowing students to engage with the complexities of the working world and representing an investment in the development of skills and the continuity of the Motor Valley's technical and engineering culture.
