Shaped by racing

Compact forms, sharp lines, and advanced technical solutions based on aerodynamics research blend to form an exhilarating, aggressive aesthetic. Born to exceed every limit.
Designed to race

The Panigale V4 R maintains the balanced proportions of the Panigale V4 and adds advanced aerodynamic solutions that further hone the design, for a marked evolution with respect to the previous model. The aesthetics benefit from a selection of carbon fiber components, some of which replace original elements to emphasize the exclusive look, while also reducing the bike’s overall weight.

Redesigned intake ducts

For a reduction in raw emissions (those before the catalytic converter) without reducing engine performance, involve repositioned injectors and a new intake duct design. The intake ducts now have a cleaner inner surface, for improved permeability with respect to the previous configuration, with the throttle fully open at maximum valve lift.

Tank in brushed aluminum

For added appeal and authenticity, the tank in visible brushed aluminum underlines the seductive, racing character of the Panigale V4 R.

Race-inspired color scheme

In line with all iconic Borgo Panigale homologated special editions, the color scheme relies on the racing spirit evoked by Ducati Red, for which the “R” bikes competing in WorldSBK have long stood out. The red of the fairings creates a bold contrast with the frame and swingarm, which add an aggressive, technical touch in black, exclusive to the V4 R.

A magical combination of beauty and technology

Details designed to enhance performance and take excitement to new heights. A saga that began in 2001 with the 996 R, with all the most sophisticated race technology.

Advanced race engine

Even faster. Even more racing. Designed to respect World Superbike regulations. With its 998 cc Desmosedici Stradale R engine, it delivers 239 hp*, for speeds in excess of 205 mph (330 km/h).
Desmosedici Stradale R: the latest-generation race-derived engine

The star of the new Panigale V4 R is the 998 cc 90° V4 Desmosedici Stradale engine that, in its latest evolution, delivers maximum homologated power of 208.4 hp at 13,250 rpm.

To guarantee this performance, the new Desmosedici Stradale R introduces some important new features: the intake system is completely redesigned, every piston is 5% lighter and the new crankshaft is high inertia.

New Ducati Racing Gearbox and Ducati Neutral Lock

Like the race bikes, the Panigale V4 R is equipped with a race-style gear pattern. The Ducati Racing Gearbox (DRG) sees neutral positioned beneath first gear, rather than between first and second, to ensure sufficient engine brake in the final and most delicate phase of braking when entering first gear corners. The absence of neutral between first and second also ensures quicker, smoother and more repeatable shifting between these two gears with respect to a gearbox with road configuration.

To prevent accidental downshifting from first to neutral, the gearbox features the patented Ducati Neutral Lock (DNL), which can be deactivated using the dedicated lever on the right semi-handlebar. To engage neutral, the rider must carry out the same actions as official riders in MotoGP and Superbike.

Redesigned intake system and camshafts

The throttle body injectors have been moved from the inner part of the intake ducts. In their new position, the spray cone is able to nebulise fuel more efficiently, which allows for improved combustion efficiency. Moving the injectors called for a new intake duct design, a cleaner inner surface offering a slight improvement in permeability with the throttle fully open at maximum valve lift.

The Panigale V4 R features new exhaust camshafts, with a different profile that delays the exhaust valve opening. In terms of performance, the combination of a new intake and new camshaft makes for a higher power and torque curve at all speeds.

Lighter new pistons and a high inertia crankshaft

The new Desmosedici Stradale R is equipped with even lighter new pistons (-5.1%) and a new high inertia crankshaft. This solution, that follows the Ducati MotoGP development strategy, ensures a more continuous engine response, for a homologated production version of that of the Desmosedici ridden by Marc Márquez and Francesco Bagnaia.

Repositioned throttle body injectors

The throttle body injectors are repositioned, shifted from the inner part of the intake duct (intrados) to the outer part (extrados), immediately below the throttle valve. In this new position, the injector spray cone can nebulize fuel when cold, for a more homogeneous mix and reduced emissions in the first few seconds of ignition. Combined with the new exhaust cam profile, this solution halves the raw emissions, increasing torque at low- to mid-range without sacrificing performance.

Compact SBK dry clutch

The Panigale V4 R is equipped with the compact SBK dry clutch derived from the version used in the WorldSBK championship by the official Ducati team. Compared to the clutch fitted on other V4 models, the diameter and axial length have been reduced (-24 mm) and, above all, the weight has been reduced by approximately 1.8 lbs (800 grams).

MotoGP-style desmodromic system

The Desmosedici Stradale R engine is a 90° V4 with desmodromic timing, complete with counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin Pulse firing order. Ducati is the only manufacturer in MotoGP to use this timing system on both its race bikes and its high-performance road bikes. In addition, the Desmosedici Stradale R flaunts technical solutions that derive directly from the racing world, like the titanium “gun drilled” rods and piston skirts with DLC coating.

Longer final drive

The increased torque curve allows for a longer final drive, which goes from 15/42 to 16/43. This allows sixth gear to be fully exploited, with a resulting maximum speed exceeding 205.4 mph in the Racing configuration.

Racing configuration for maximum power of 239 hp*

In its latest evolution, the Desmosedici Stradale R delivers maximum homologated power of 208.4 hp at 13,250 rpm. Born to race, the Panigale V4 R features the titanium full racing exhaust developed in collaboration with Akrapovič, complete with double under-seat silencer and carbon heat shields, designed specifically for this configuration. With this racing exhaust, the engine reaches 235.3 hp, a figure that can be boosted by another 3.5 hp (4.5 hp at the limiter), for a peak of 239* hp* with the use of Ducati Corse Performance Oil, developed by Ducati Corse in collaboration with Shell. The system heightens the power/weight ratio of the Panigale V4 R, thanks to a weight saving of 14.5 lbs (6.6 kg) with respect to the standard system and a power increase of 30.6 hp.

Exhaust systems

The standard exhaust system retains the maximum power of its predecessor while offering a higher power and torque curve across the entire range of use.

The new racing exhaust, made entirely of titanium and developed in collaboration with Akrapovič, makes the Panigale V4 R even lighter. Equipped with a double under-seat silencer and carbon heat shields, it reduces the weight by 14.5 lbs with respect to the standard system and increases power by 30.6 hp, significantly improving the power/weight ratio and allowing for a maximum speed of 205.4 mph.

The essence of speed

Agility, traction, and corner speed form the basis for the new Panigale V4 R chassis setup. Derived from that of the new Panigale V4, it is an evolution that stems from experience in MotoGP, bringing technologies designed to ensure maximum control and ultimate riding feeling to the road and track.
MotoGP-derived chassis

The chassis of the new Panigale V4 R derives from the latest generation of Panigale V4 and adopts MotoGP-style technical and design solutions. The Front Frame, with a 40% reduction in lateral stiffness, instils greater confidence at maximum lean angles, improving corner entry and execution with even higher cornering speeds. The new Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm, lighter and flaunting a design with lateral arms and wide openings on the sides, contributes to reducing the overall weight and increasing stability. The result is a sense of compactness and connection between front and rear, similar to that of the Desmosedici GP, which makes for cleaner and more stable corner exits, with no unwanted oscillation.

Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm

The decision to use a double-sided layout for the swingarm inherited from the seventh generation of Panigale, strongly recommended by Ducati Corse, results from a desire to further increase engine and chassis performance, now so close to that of the prototypes that it requires similar solutions that can support the angles afforded by modern tires, well beyond 60°, with which the suspension cannot function correctly. The rear suspension of the new Panigale V4 R exploits a linkage fixed to the Desmosedici Stradale engine with forged aluminum. The linkage reacts to motion generated by the double-sided swingarm in low pressure chill cast aluminum, characterized by a design that combines the stiffness and feedback needs requested by Ducati Corse with the decision to keep the exhaust system positioned beneath the engine on the production bike.

Optimized ergonomics for guaranteed aerodynamics

The ergonomics of the Panigale V4 R match those of the last generation of Panigale and are optimized to improve bike control during the most demanding phases of track riding, improving performance over both a flying lap and extended sessions. The main updates relate to the seat, tank, surfaces of contact between rider and bike, and the position of the footpegs. The new tank design, with a more suitable rear area, facilitates the braking and “hanging off” phases, with better knee anchoring for riders of all sizes. This reduces physical effort and improves a rider’s position when cornering and efficiency when braking.

New Öhlins mechanical suspension

The Panigale V4 R differs from other Panigale V4 bikes in that it mounts professional Öhlins mechanical suspension with a needle valve in place of the V4 S semi-active unit with spool valve. The Öhlins NPX25/30 Ø 43 mm pressurized fork with TiN-treated stanchions is paired with an Öhlins TTX36 shock complete with hydraulic preload adjuster to facilitate adjustment. The monoshock can be fitted with the rear suspension linear stroke sensor. The Panigale V4 R is also the first bike to be equipped with the new Öhlins SD20 steering damper, more compact and offering a wider range of adjustment, reduced response times and greater damping force thanks to a larger diameter piston. The adjustable pivot extends adjustment options so that the bike can be set up to better suit a specific riding style or type of track.

Powerful braking system

The braking performance of the Panigale V4 R can be boosted with the Pro and Pro+ front brake packages that include Brembo T-drive finned racing discs – 338.5 mm in diameter and 6.2 mm thick – to ensure maximum efficiency and performance consistency. The Pro package stands out for the Brembo Hypure anodized calipers in an exclusive titanium color, while the Pro+ adopts Brembo GP4 Sport Production billet calipers with cooling fins on the outer body for better heat exchange, ideal for intense track use.

Five-spoke wheels and Pirelli DIABLO™ tires

The Panigale V4 R is equipped with lightweight forged aluminum five-spoke tangential wheels inspired by those of the DesmosediciGP, with a respective front and rear weight of just 6.5 lbs (2.95 kg) and 9 lbs (4.15 kg). Carbon fiber wheels are available as optional, reducing the weight by 2 lbs (0.950 kg), [MR1] [RK2] improving agility in the changes of direction and reducing the riding effort, while also improving the ability to hold the line. The Panigale V4 R mounts Pirelli DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP tires as standard, with a 120/70 ZR17 front and 200/60 ZR 17 rear. For use on track, it can be equipped with Pirelli slicks, 125/70 at the front and 200/65 at the rear, which position at the top of the Pirelli “Racing” range currently used in the WorldSBK championship, with high-performance compounds like SCX and SCQ.

The most advanced electronics of all time

Even greater performance thanks to the advanced electronics of the Panigale V4 R. Solutions that make it even more sophisticated, safe and extreme, adapting to the individual needs of each rider.
Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO): the advanced algorithm developed by Ducati Corse

The Panigale V4 R raises the level of its electronic controls package with the use of the Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO), the algorithm developed by Ducati Corse. This allows for a real time estimate of physical, kinematic and dynamic parameters that cannot be directly measured in practice, which impact on the ground forces, acceleration and maximum torque the vehicle can support in different riding conditions. The system simulates a network of virtual sensors capable of measuring more than 70 physical quantities in addition to those detected by the inertial platform, allowing for a precise estimate of both the operating thrust and maximum forces that can be tolerated by the bike at that specific moment.

Combined braking strategies for track and road with Race Brake Control and Cornering ABS

The Panigale V4 R is equipped with Cornering ABS strategies with combined braking strategies for road and track. Conceived by Bosch, the road strategies mirror those introduced on the Panigale V4 and increase both safety and stability with respect to a traditional system. The track braking strategies, known as Race Brake Control (RBC), are new generation and developed directly by Ducati, allowing the rider to emulate the riding techniques of professional riders with results that outstrip even those of the Panigale V4. The Race Brake Control (RBC) strategies allow the rear brake to be more effectively exploited than on the Panigale V4 thanks to an even more precise calculation method and greater pressure that can be applied to the different tilting angles. This means that the braking point is shifted further forward because the system allows for rapid deceleration in the final phase, right up to the rear wheel lock limit, just as MotoGP riders do.

Engine Brake Control DVO

EBC (Engine Brake Control) DVO has been updated to help riders optimize vehicle stability in extreme conditions of corner entry, balancing the forces to which the rear tire is subjected with intense application of the Desmosedici Stradale engine brake.

Thanks to the introduction of DVO, the new engine brake management system does not only consider data relating to roll angle, throttle position, selected gear and crankshaft deceleration but also uses the additional physical quantities calculated thanks to the Ducati Vehicle Observer.

The DVO means that, during deceleration, the strategy implemented on the Panigale V4 R can modulate the engine brake based on an estimate of rear load on the ground, and hence the maximum level of braking torque that can be transferred to the rear wheel in that precise moment. In cases where rear while slide exceeds the preset threshold, in the levels that offer it, the control precisely adjusts throttle opening to rebalance the torque forces applied to the tire in order to restore grip.

Ducati Data Logger (DDL)

Ducati Data Logger (DDL) is the new-generation data acquisition system developed by 2D in collaboration with Ducati specifically for the new Panigale V4 family. It is available as a Ducati Performance accessory. Connected directly to the bike’s CAN bus, it records all relevant riding parameters, integrating them with positioning data supplied by a high-performance GPS system. Thanks to the integrated Wi-Fi interface, the data can be quickly downloaded and analyzed using external software based on automatic templates and reports created by Ducati Corse technicians. A tool that allows Panigale riders to perfect their performance on track.

Four Power Modes for advanced delivery control

Desmosedici Stradale R engine delivery is linked to four Ride by Wire throttle response strategies defined by the Full, High, Medium, and Low Power Modes.

Full Power Mode, associated with Race A Riding Mode, allows the engine to express its full potential with direct Ride by Wire response on opening the throttle and torque curves without electronic filters, in all gears.

High Power Mode, associated with Race B Riding Mode, provides a more gradual throttle response.

Medium Power Mode is associated with the Sport and Road RM, for an easy to manage throttle response. In this configuration, the engine delivers maximum power in all gears except first to third.

Associated with Low Riding Mode, Low Power Mode limits the bike’s maximum power to 160 hp and offers a particularly smooth throttle response, suitable for riding on the road or on low-grip surfaces.

Advanced Riding Modes for ultimate control and performance

The Panigale V4 R offers five pre-set Riding Modes: Race A, Race B, Sport, Road and Wet, designed to suit different riding styles, surfaces and weather conditions. Each Riding Mode is programmed to adjust engine delivery and electronic control parameters in real time.

The rider can customize their riding styles and later restore the parameters set by Ducati, just as they can enable levels 2, 4 and 5 of the Race eCBS (recommended for expert riders riding on track) and associate Full Power Mode.

Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0

The Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0 allows the rider to engage gears and downshift without using the clutch and significantly evolves with respect to the previous system, doing away with the traditional lever with microswitch in favor of a direct mechanical lever. The DQS electronic strategy is now based on a gear drum positioning sensor that identifies the gear change, offering the rider more direct feeling that is easier to repeat, less “gummy” and with reduced travel, to improve the overall riding experience.

New suite of electronic controls

The new Panigale V4 R presents new, latest-generation electronic controls.

  • Ducati Traction Control (DTC) DVO

Adjusts rear wheel slip based on the relationship between longitudinal and vertical forces, optimizing the torque transferable to the ground. Ensures maximum efficiency for professional and amateur riders alike.

  • Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) DVO

The system can more accurately identify any wheelieing and control it with greater precision. It offers eight levels of intervention, with lower levels that allow for controlled wheelieing in the hands of expert riders and higher levels that improve stability and reduce physical and mental fatigue while riding.

  • Ducati Slide Control (DSC)

Developed in collaboration with Ducati Corse, the system helps the rider to control corner exit performance, adjusting the torque depending on the slide angle. The DSC operates thanks to the six-axis inertial platform and can be adjusted according to two levels to suit different riding styles.

  • Ducati Power Launch (DPL) DVO

Optimizes performance from a standing start, managing engine speed and torque delivery. Three levels of intervention ensure quick, safe starts, leaving the rider to focus only on releasing the clutch. and torque delivery. Three levels of intervention ensure quick, safe starts, leaving the rider to focus only on releasing the clutch.

DAVC Race Pro software: advanced configuration for track use

For those wanting to use the Panigale V4 R on track, with the racing exhaust and slick or rain tires, the bike’s full potential can be unleashed by activating the DAVC Race Pro Software available in the Ducati Performance accessories catalogue. With this package, the Power Modes and Riding Modes adopt dedicated names and calibration specific for track use, optimizing the bike’s response. The rider has the option to immediately activate a selection of different Riding Modes without confirmation, as on the race bikes, and customize the options screen, filtering preferred modes for even quicker and more focused access.

Grip Level Meter

The Grip Level Meter helps the rider to assess and manage their performance by providing a graphic estimate of the average tire grip available on the ground. Designed to perform best in highly repeatable conditions, the grip level meter is intended for track use only and requires the installation of Ducati DAVC Race Pro software.

6.9” TFT

The Panigale V4 R adopts the new Panigale V4 6.9” dashboard with an 8:3 aspect ratio and 1280x480 resolution that sets new standards in the segment in terms of readability and the amount of data it provides. The wider aspect ratio ensures a complete visual experience without compromising the rider’s peripheral vision behind the fairing. The screen adopts Optical Bonding technology, with graphics on a black background, for excellent readability also during the day. Two Info Modes – Track and Road – satisfy different conditions of use.
