AustrianGP - Chapter 2: Dovi and Petrux back on the track

After a week the MotoGP is back on the track at the RedBull ring for the Styria Grand Prix. For Andrea Dovizioso and the Ducati Team it's a chance for an encore after the great win last Sunday.

Once again the Austrian track saw Ducati triumph with Dovizioso, giving him his third victory on this circuit and the 50th for Ducati in MotoGP. Ducati's celebration on the podium was completed by Miller, who finished third with Ducati Pramac. Petrucci wasn't able to get any higher than seventh place, but it has to be said that in the qualification runs he just missed Q1 twice and the starting position back in the pack was too much to overcome.

There will barely be enough time to cool the engines before the bikes have to be back on the track again, but this time drawing on the experience gained over the previous weekend. Then again, the Austrian track is situated at a high altitude where the weather is particularly variable so the race could take place in conditions that are quite different from last Sunday.

But the fact remains that the RedBull ring is the favourite track of the Demosedici GP, since from 2016 – the first year the Austrian circuit was added to the MotoGP calendar – we've seen Ducati triumphs with Iannone (2016), Dovizioso (2017/2019/2020) and Lorenzo (2018), and the Ducati Team is determined to continue this winning trend.

Particularly worthy of note was the important milestone achieved last weekend by Ducati with its 50th win in MotoGP in 18 years of competing. This prestigious achievement was reached thanks to Stoner's 23 victories, 14 by Dovizioso, 7 by Capirossi, 3 by Lorenzo and one each by Bayliss, Petrucci and Iannone. A list of wins that makes Ducati the third most successful manufacturer in the world of all those involved in MotoGP.
