Lightness, style and endurance

Every Ducati Performance accessory is the result of that Ducati passion for design, quality, and technology. Working in close collaboration and together with the dedicated project managers, the commercial, technical, and accessory departments develop components specific to each new motorcycle model.
Conceived by the Centro Stile and developed by R&D, the Ducati Performance accessories in carbon offer outstanding performance while also highlighting the motorcycle’s aesthetics. These composite materials stand out for the fact they combine very high mechanical resistance at a reduced weight owing to their low density, which makes them ideal for the creation of versatile and light.

The phases of production

Every phase of production, from the initial sketches to the finished product, underscores the dedication and passion of all the Ducati teams involved in conceiving, seeking, devising, designing, and developing uniquely manufactured accessories, refined down to the last detail.

phase 1 The sketches
Starting with the original concept and thanks to the expert hands of our designers, the sketches are processed using CAD software programmes to create carbon sheets that can be plotter cut in an automated way. This ensures that the pieces obtained are always perfect, minimising the possibilities of error.
phase 2 The laminate moulding
Cutting is followed by the laminate moulding phase. The tried-and-tested method sees the high-quality prepreg laminates carefully applied to the moulds by hand to ensure the necessary quality. Then comes autoclave curing, during which resin polymerisation and vacuum bag consolidation takes place. This production phase involves a series of thorough, automated checks carried out by the control panel of the autoclave itself. The resin polymerisation process is continuously monitored so as to obtain the desired technical characteristics.
phase 3 The trimming
The next stage involves trimming via robotic milling. The use of industrial robots and automated processes affords greater efficiency and reduces errors, thus boosting productivity and improving product characteristics. This phase is fundamental and ensures the impeccable quality, repeatability, and uniformity of pieces, which retain all the same characteristics over time. At the end of the automated process, each piece is visually inspected by operators who intervene where necessary, trimming by hand to maximise product standards.
phase 4 Painting
Painting is the final part of the process, using only the best quality paint.
phase 5 The woven fibre look
The painting process is continuously controlled and monitored and serves to protect the fibres from atmospheric agents and the sun’s rays but also give components that particular visible woven fibre look, a unique and distinctive characteristic of Ducati carbon accessories.

The end result attests to the perfect balance of craftsmanship and technology for unprecedented levels of excellence.
