Voight crowned ASBK Champion in thrilling season finale

Harry Voight crowned ASBK Champion, the twenty-year-old securing his first ASBK title following a brilliant race one ride in a weekend dominated by McMartin Racing prepared machines at Queensland Raceway over the weekend of 26-28 June.

Friday practice was spent dialling in the bikes and riders for the unique challenge that is Queensland Raceway. While both Harry Voight and Josh Waters managed to improve their times over the day despite some rain interruptions it was the McMartin Racing prepared Stop and Seal entry of Cru Halliday that took the Friday honours.

Saturday’s qualifying sessions were held in perfect conditions as Josh Waters on the Onyabike Adventures KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R and Harry Voight on the Voight Contracting KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R both secured second row grid positions, the pair separated by .007. Josh, sixth on the grid, less than .5 off the pole position time set by Friday pacesetter Cru Halliday on the K-Tech equipped, McMartin Racing prepared, Stop and Seal V4R. Cru’s time only .013 off the fastest ever Superbike lap of Queensland Raceway.

Prior to race one the nervous energy on the grid was clearly evident, Harry a chance of taking his maiden ASBK title going into the race with a twenty-four-point lead over McMartin Racing teammate, and five-time ASBK Champion, Josh Waters.

As the bikes launched off the line it was Waters on the Onyabike Adventures KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R who got a great launch, momentarily slotting into third before being relegated back to fourth, Harry and the Voight Contracting KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R right on his tail. Harry was keen to move forward and late on the brakes into turn six on lap two managed to just find a way past Josh to move into fourth. One lap later he had closed right up onto the back of Cru Halliday in third, Josh matching Harry’s pace and moving forward as well. By lap six Harry and the Voight Contracting KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R had moved into third and then on lap eight Cru Halliday got the better of early race leader Mike Jones at the final corner while Harry in a brilliant move followed suit getting through on the inside of Jones to move into second. On the same lap Josh got the better of Glenn Allerton to move into fourth position, which he held to the chequered flag. Harry, constantly applying pressure to race leader Cru Halliday was unable to find a way past and crossed the line in second to secure the 2026 ASBK Title, his first and McMartin Racing with K-Tech’s fifth. Cru Halliday on the McMartin prepared Stop and Seal entry took his first victory of the year and moved into third in the championship standings.  

With rain falling prior to the start of race two and the title secure, Harry opted to sit out the final race of the 2026 season, his commitments in the European Moto 2 Championship next weekend front of mind.

Josh launched the Onyabike Adventures KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R off the line and into second through turn one before immediately being pushed back a few places in the slippery conditions. A classic move on Mike Jones at turn five on the first lap put Josh and the Onyabike Adventures KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R back into third place, a position he would hold for the next ten laps. As the riders got more used to the conditions lap times started to drop and despite consistent pace Josh lost two positions in two laps before fighting back to fourth at the chequered flag.

Josh Waters has now finished either first or second in the last four years of the ASBK Championship, while McMartin Racing with K-Tech have the same record over the last seven years and won five riders titles with three different riders. McMartin Racing with K-Tech prepared machines also finished 1-2-3 in the 2026 ASBK Championship.
