• Top 10 for Ferruccio Zanchi in the MX2 qualifying race
After a month-long break, the FIM Motocross World Championship resumes its journey to round 19, first visiting all five continents, before end up in Australia. The sixth round of the series, the MXGP Grand Prix of France, takes place this weekend on the challenging and narrow Georges Filhol circuit in Lacapelle-Marival. The race is held in the southwestern part of the country, 150 kilometers north of Toulouse, in a summer climate with temperatures reaching 30°C.
Tenth at the end of the timed practice session, Ferruccio Zanchi took a good start to the qualifying race, moving straight into the top 10. Seventh after two laps, the Beddini Ducati Factory MX2 Team rider battled with the class leaders throughout the heat, completing a positive race, in ninth.
It was a more challenging day for the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team riders, with Andrea Bonacorsi finishing 20th in the qualifying heat. Sixteenth in timed practice, the Italian was battling with teammate Calvin Vlaanderen for the top 10 when a crash put him to the back of the pack. Jeremy Seewer also had a poor Saturday, finishing 25th in practice and 24th at the checkered flag. Tenth in the timed session, showing a good feeling with the track and good speed, Calvin was tenth in the qualifying race, until five laps from the end, when he was forced to leave the track due to a trivial technical issue.
