• Bonacorsi tops the top 10 in the qualifying race for the Trentino Grand Prix
The "Ciclamino" circuit in Pietramurata (TN) hosts this weekend, the fifth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, the Grand Prix of Trentino. Located on the 46th parallel, north of Garda Lake, the Trentino track has been home to the Motocross World Championship since 1987.
After the two practice sessions, held under the Trentino spring sunshine with temperatures nearing 25°C, Calvin Vlaanderen posted the 16th fastest time, with Andrea Bonacorsi 24th and Jeremy Seewer 26th. At the start of the qualifying race, Bonacorsi started close to the fifteenth place; 13th after one lap, the Italian climbed to 10th place shortly after, improving his pace with each lap and taking eighth place. At the end of the 12-lap race, the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team rider crossed the line in 10th place, having lost two positions in the closing stages. Vlaanderen, on the other hand, had a strong start aboard his Desmo450 MX; fifth after a few corners, a crash dropped him to 33rd place on the first lap. Far from discouraged, the Dutchman fought back, posting solid lap times and climbing to 14th place before a second crash, while he was trying to further improve his result, relegated him to seventeenth. Seewer finished 21st, starting 24th and battling for the top 20 until the finish line.
In MX2 Ferruccio Zanchi, in his second race of the season after returning the previous week in Sardinia, achieved the ninth fastest time in timed practice. Starting 18th in the qualifying race, the Tuscan made a comeback during the first lap, climbing to twelfth place, before sliding and restarting late, finishing his race 14th, the position in which he will line up at the gate for the start of Sunday's motos.
