Located 250 kilometers from the capital Ankara and 400 kilometers from Istanbul, this weekend the Afyonkarahisar track hosts the eighteenth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, known as the MXGP Turkish Grand Prix. Built in the center of a thermal spa on a plateau at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, the 1,725-meter Afyon track is known to challenge even the powerful engines of 450cc machines and features hard, compact terrain marked by deep ruts.
After posting the 14th and 11th fastest times in free practice, Mattia Guadagnini and Jeremy Seewer started the third-to-last qualifying race of the season lining up in 14th and 17th place, based on their timed practice times, with the Swiss rider taking 16th ahead of his teammate after the first corner. During the fifth lap, after both gaining a position, Mattia manages to get the better of Jeremy, crossing the finish line in 15th place at the end of the 12-lap race ahead of his teammate.
