Josh Waters and Harry Voight share race wins for McMartin Racing with K-Tech under lights at ASBK round two

McMartin Racing with K-Tech have dominated the top step of the podium, taking victory in both races at Sydney Motorsport Park over the Friday and Saturday event held 27-28 March.

Friday held the usual three practice sessions but also qualifying due to the shortened two-day, day/night event, rain not helping all teams dial in their setups as only minimal dry track was available in the mixed conditions.

Qualifying was held without rain falling but the track, whilst dry in some places, was also only offering a very narrow dry line in others. Despite the conditions the pace was electric, Onyabike KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech rider Josh Waters and Voight Contracting KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech rider Harry Voight both had a turn at the top of the timesheets early in Q2. Come the business end of the session though and it was Harry who set the mark with just under four minutes to go, clocking a 1:30.226 before improving shortly after, dipping into the 29’s with a 29.872. But five-time ASBK champ Waters had one more trick up his sleeve and with only 40sec to go Waters laid it all on the line in tricky conditions to record a lap only .7 off the qualifying lap record, taking a sensational pole position ahead of teammate Harry Voight. A qualifying McMartin Racing with K-Tech 1-2 for the second time this year.

Race one got underway in Saturday afternoons brilliant sunlight, much better conditions than the previous evenings qualifying. Josh and Harry both got a great launch off the line on their Onyabike KW Civil and Voight KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R’s, but Harry got the early upper hand leading into turn two and was riding with his usual enthusiasm, Josh right behind. Harry led for the first two laps, Josh maintaining a watching brief on his tail while Cru Halliday, on the McMartin Racing with K-Tech prepared Stop and Seal V4R, had moved into third. Josh made a bid for the lead on lap three and began to set the pace at the front, Harry held on for second for a few laps before Cru and JJ Nahlous moved past on lap five. Josh was managing the lead over Cru Halliday on the Stop and Seal machine while Harry was dealing with a few issues along with some fast and determined riders. Playing the smart card, Harry brought his Voight Contracting KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R home in fourth place while Josh on the Onyabike KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R was able to reel off ten laps in the 29’s to take the race win by .6 over Cru Halliday.

Race two was the spectacle the crowds had come to see, Superbikes under lights at night in Australia’s biggest city. Harry Voight and Josh Waters did not disappoint the healthy crowd, putting on a show of precision superbike racing over thirteen laps. As in race one Harry got the jump off the line on his Voight Contracting KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R while Josh Waters on the Onyabike KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech V4R was right on his tail. Comfortable that any race one issues had been resolved by the team Harry upped the pace and was able to record eleven straight laps in the 29’s to take victory, Josh Waters showed his pace again to take second also consistently running in the 29’s while Cru Halliday took third for the Stop and Seal Team, a McMartin Racing with K-Tech podium lockout for the first time in 2026.

Championship standings after round two’s races four and five see’s Harry Voight leading the championship on 110 points with Josh Waters now moving into second on 96.

The next round of the 2026 ASBK Championship is on the weekend of 1-3 May at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.

What a busy weekend” said KW Civil McMartin Racing with K-Tech Team Owner Craig McMartin. “The two-day night race is a great event, but there is not a lot of time between sessions to make changes, but the team did an amazing job all weekend. Josh and Harry both rode fantastically well taking a win each over the two races and Josh getting the overall round win. I must apologise to Harry for the small technical problem in race one, but he rode very smartly to bring it home for good championship points. As always, a big thank you to the team for all their hard work over the two days and of course all our dedicated sponsors and supporters who share our vision.
