Keep up to speed with Desmo Sport Ducati Racing in the Australian Superbike Championship!
DesmoSport DucatiThe third round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) returns to the track this weekend at Queensland Raceway in Ipswich where DesmoSport Ducati and Broc Pearson are set to tackle the two 16-lap races head-on aboard the DesmoSport Ducati Panigale V4 R. Pearson will be joined by young New Zealand racer Luca Durning aboard the #18 machine as he becomes the first ever entrant in the new Next Gen SuperSport class aboard a DesmoSport Ducati-prepared Panigale V2.
Team Owner, Ben Henry: "We're down a few points to where I expected to be at this point in the season, but we also have the opportunity to make them back. We made some good progress in testing at QR, with Broc able to put in race-runs at a solid pace, but I think we'll see faster times than what the field put down at the test. We'll be looking to improve our one-lap speed, and even though Queensland Raceway is a relatively simple layout, it demands a lot from both the bike and rider. There's no margin for error with even the smallest mistake likely to give an opportunity to a rider behind. The bike needs to be strong under both heavy acceleration and heavy braking, while also being capable of holding the lines Broc prefers to get a good lap time. I'm also really happy to finally be able see a DesmoSport Ducati Panigale V2 on track. Riding with the Superbike class, Luca will be at the back of the grid with such a huge power difference on a track that uses every horsepower available, but it's an exciting step in the future, and I'm proud that we are the first in Australia to field a rider."
Broc Pearson: "Racing at Queensland Raceway is totally different to tracks like Phillip Island and Sydney MotorSports Park that have more flowing layouts. It's physically demanding, and I have 16 laps where I need to make sure I hit every mark on every lap to get a good lap time and keep track position. To help with that, I've been doing a lot of high-intensity work-outs off-track to help me keep my concentration on point in the late stages of the race when others are fatiguing. I'm happy with how we tested here a few weeks ago, it was probably our most positive test to date on the new ECU package with a lot of positive progress. I'm really looking forward to getting out on track and also seeing a lot of familiar faces in the paddock being my home round."
