HomeThe second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship takes place this weekend in Almonte, 75 kilometers west of Seville. The Grand Prix of Andalusia is held on the new Circuito de Motocross de Almonte, a sandy track that was particularly wet in the morning due to heavy rainfall, but dried out over the course of the day, creating a fast and technical layout, with a hard surface that extends for 1,700 meters.
Fifteenth at the end of the free practice session, used by the Red Bull Ducati MXGP Factory Team riders to familiarize themselves with the new track, Calvin Vlaanderen finished eighth in the following timed practice session, with teammate Jeremy Seewer finishing further back in fifteenth. At the start of the qualifying race, Calvin got off to a good start, moving sixth on the #10 Desmo450 MX into the first corner, while Jeremy was twentieth on the #91. The Dutchman gained two positions on the first lap, moving up to fourth, while the Swiss attempted a difficult comeback that brought him closer to the top 15, before a crash compromised his result. Vlaanderen found a good pace, posting consistent lap times that allowed him to finish an excellent fifth place, while Seewer crossed the finish line in 22nd.
