ROOM 3

Ducati Corse Room

In a real Physics MotoGP you learn how the same physical principles already encountered apply to the study of the engine and the dynamics of the motorcycle.

The intuitive but rigorous study of physical concepts such as torque, power, gyroscopic momentum, will lead each team to acquire the necessary knowledge to get to the finish line!

Gyroscopic motion

A motorcycle, connected to the ground through a special support that allows you to tilt sideways, allows you to simulate the behavior in the fold: how do the pilots cope with the curves at high speeds? What is the physical explanation of the "fold"? When gyroscopic effects come into play we see the rider's ability to keep the bike in balance!

Engine

We could not miss the animated cross section of the famous Ducati twin-cylinder! Discovering the 4T engine, with particular attention to details that make Ducati bikes unique in the world.

Cinematic Motion

How is the transmission of the motion from the engine to the rear wheel? On this post we answer this question in a simple and fun way! Why, in order to reach ever higher speeds, do we have to change gear? What happens in the engine after we have changed gear? Which team will be able to bring their bikes to maximum speed and how?

X-Moto: Mutant Motorcycle

A mutant motorcycle, half bike and half bike, concludes the section of the GP of Physics, introducing intuitively and experientially to the concepts of torque and power. The graph of the rider's torque and power curve is shown on the display. What will be the MotoGP champion team of Physics?
