John Hackett presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ducati Owners Club GB’s AGM dinner

At the recent annual AGM dinner held by the Ducati Owners Club GB, John Hackett, who has a world-renowned reputation for looking after Ducatis, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the club’s Chair Martyn Edwards.

For over twenty years, John Hackett and the Team at JH Performance, who are based at the Ducati Coventry store, have been tuning and preparing Ducati motorcycles for some of the highest profile names in racing. John has a long history with the Borgo Panigale brand, and has worked with the likes of Neil Hodgson, John Laverty and Troy Bayliss, scoring plenty of podiums and race wins along the way.

“The award was a complete surprise! I’d looked at the projector screen and saw all these old photos of me. Where's all that come from? What's going on? Rick just smiled and Martyn looked at me and said, “Have you got a minute?” I think my words to Martyn were, “Where have you dug up all this from!”

I didn’t know what was going on, so I was completely taken aback being given a Lifetime Achievement Award for my work with Ducati from the club. And then I was presented with a conrod from one of Chaz Davies’s bike too. I just thought, wow, what have I done for that? I called Chaz the day after and he thought it was all brilliant. I’m honoured and want to say a big thanks to all involved.”

“It was an absolute honour to give John a Lifetime Achievement Award, he’s a Ducati legend and such a humble man. And he didn't even realise the award was for him at first because although our award presentation started with a slide saying “John Hackett Lifetime Achievement” he wasn’t looking!

The AGM was a great success, made especially so with our honoured guests John and Rick Hackett, who both support and look after the club and have done so for years. We’re very grateful to them. And also for David Knight, who was in attendence during the evening too.

It’s going to be another busy year ahead for the DOCGB and we can’t wait for all the upcoming events coming up, including a very special 100-year celebration at World Ducati Week.”
