Jack Bell a three-time Hooligan Champion after a clean sweep of victories on his Scrambler

The Devitt Insurance X Vanoni Moto Officina team report back from Greenfield and the final round of the DTRA National Flat Track Championship where they finished their 2023 campaign on a high with a double podium.

Even though the Championship was securely in our pockets the weekend wasn’t just a formality. We still had work to do and wanted to achieve a clean sweep of victories for Jack and to get Skye to maximise her points haul with a view to get a top 5 finish in final standings.

The grid was a packed field with bikes from Ducati, Indian, BMW, Harley, Honda and Triumph. Skye battled upfront with World Champion Gerard Bailo (on the Indian FTR1200) for the win in the qualifying heats, scoring an impressive 1st and two 2nd places on the Ducati Scrambler 800.

Meanwhile Jack suffered from an intermittent issue with the Scrambler 1100 with the bike not getting full power under acceleration - a wheel sensor being the culprit. That meant that while Skye got second pick on the starting gate, Jack qualified on the back row just one place from last. As they lined up for the final this was an odd position to be in as a team: equally delighted for Skye and disappointed for Jack. But we knew we could get both bikes on the podium if everything went our way - and it did.

Just before the Final we decided to disconnect all speed and TC sensors from Jack’s bike - it was worth a try! Both riders made a great start: Skye Adams took the lead and Jack - now with a working bike, made up positions rather quickly. By lap 3 Jack was on the leading group with Skye and Bailo. He then took the lead on Lap 4, stretching a small lead.

Meanwhile Skye found herself on P3, keeping up with Bailo on the Indian and showing the front wheel on a couple of occasions. However, the Spaniard used the size of the bike to block any overtake.

Pace upfront was really quick and the podium read Bell, Bailo and Adams, all head and shouldesr over the rest of the field.

It was a mixed-luck weekend but what’s most important is that we managed both our targets and we came away as the best team. I personally couldn’t be happier with the effort and commitment that both Jack and Skye have shown: Skye joined the team seamlessly and immediately got settled on the bike, whilst Jack got faster and faster with each round.

Jack Bell (Devitt Insurance X Vanoni Moto Officina #93)
"I’d like to thanks Max for his hard work on the bike Saturday. It was not easy but we got there in the end and the Bike was great to ride in the final race of the year. Three times Hooligan champion and unbeaten this year shows what a great bike and team we have. Thank you all for the support, I look forward to more next year!"

Skye Adams (Devitt Insurance X Vanoni Moto Officina #76)
"I felt really comfortable on the bike again, I was able to push to my best and have some good battles in the races with Gerard. It was nice to be able to show people that I’ve got the pace and ready to fight for the top. Thanks to Max and the team for a great weekend overall."

We have one more race to look forward to on October 8th as a one-off Championship round at King’s Lynn with DTE. We’ll be running a one-bike team with Skye as Jack will be in France for the World Championship.
