DTRA National Flat Track Championship: Round 1, Greenfield
It’s hard to believe that in the past we never won at Greenfield Oval. Having raced here more than anywhere else in the UK as we looked back to our previous result we realised that the only other win at this track came at the 2022 TT round. But the spell is finally broken. Jack Bell asserted his dominance early on by taking the lead from the off and riding at his finest on the immaculately prepared Lincolnshire track.
From the get go Jack never looked back and truly was in a class of his own. The bike setup worked from the start and only minimal adjustments had to be carried out as we’re unlocking more potential out of the Ducati Scrambler 1100.
Over the weekend Jack achieved a Grand Slam of wins, topping the timesheets at every practice and heat on his way to pole position, leading every lap of the final and clocking the fastest lap of the race. On the Scrambler 1100 Jack took the chequered flag with a commanding 5 seconds over the Indian FTR of the current FIM World Champion Gerard Bailo.
Jaime “Leftie” Garcia was our Wild Card for this round and he took home a very respectable P5, having literally jumped on the Ducati Scrambler 800 for the first time in Practice 1. The 2023 DTRA Hooligans class is attracting a large number of competitors, with 11 bikes on the start line from five different manufacturers. No wonder both riders and teams still see it as one of the best class to be involved in.
Thanks to everyone that makes this possible, especially to Devitt Insurance and Ducati UK, and all the sponsors and partners.
Next round: MCN Devitt Festival at Peterborough, 13/14th May 2023
