Mark Bridger wins the 2022 R&G Ducati Shield

The R&G Ducati Shield championship was decided in the last ever Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup race, held at the Brands Hatch British Superbike finale last month. Moto46’s Mark Bridger took the title but was pushed all the way by Dragon Racing’s Matt Jones.

2022 R&G Ducati Shield Champion
“Starting the season, we just focused on trying to get as high up as we could and didn't think too much about the R&G Ducati Shield, we were just trying to fight with the top boys. As the season went on it was me and Matt Jones that were leading the Shield.

We started focusing a bit more on the Shield towards the end the season. We took the lead in the penultimate round and thought right we need to make sure we bring it home now! It’s been a bit of a funny couple of races here at Brands with dodgy weather and safety cars and red flags and so to be fair is more it was more hard work trying to ride sort of sensibly than it was to just go for that attack. Glad to have won it and well done to Matt for pushing me all the way. It’s been a great season, well happy.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped me this year, Moto46, Stevenage Machine Tools, Abrasive Services, Diss Scaffolding, all the team that give up their weekends to come and help me for free, my missus, everyone around me that's help me, the family that comes to support me. Everyone really, I can't name all but just thanks everyone, massive effort. Nobody really understands how much a big effort is to go racing so thanks for everyone's help.”

Managing Director, R&G
“A big congratulations to Mark Bridger. He's ridden an incredible season in the R&G Ducati Shield. It's our fourth season of sponsoring the series. It's been amazing close-run thing and we were happy to give him his award.

We've been the official sponsor for BSB for eight years now and things are going from strength to strength for us. We've got big plans for next year. We’ve got the R&G Technical Centre bigger and bolder than ever, and we've got several new brands to bring onto to offer next year, very exciting sponsorship plans and one or two secretes to unveil in the next couple of months”
