Michele Pirro entertained the crowd at the final round of Bennetts British Superbike round with an exclusive parade lap of the new Panigale V4 race prototype.
It was the first time that the V4 race bike had been seen on track in public and the attention it received was unprecedented as the bike was wheeled out of the Be Wiser Ducati garage. The prototype soon attracted a crowd on the pit lane wanting the full immersive experience of the sight and sound of the V4.
Michele Pirro had flown over from Italy especially for the occasion and once on track, treated the fans to several laps of the circuit, filling the air with the booming sound of the V4.
It had been 10 years since the current Moto GP tester and the 2018 Italian superbike champion had ridden the Kent circuit but he was soon familiarising himself with this historic track enjoying the experience and the reaction of the British Superbike crowd.
Michele Pirro: "I am really happy to be here this weekend and to have the opportunity to see British Superbikes, so thank you to PBM Be Wiser Ducati. Yesterday was a fantastic day for Ducati because we won the race and I hope today is like yesterday. Conditions were different but the Ducati is a fantastic bike.
I think next year the new challenger with the V4, it's very interesting for all people, all fans because it's a new generation, a new challenge for Ducati. I am really happy because this bike is very similar to the bike I am using in MotoGP. The engine was fantastic and the sound. The power is a lot. This is necessary because the Japanese bike was very competitive, it's necessary for top level. I think next year is a good year for all Ducati riders, in World Superbike, BSB and all championships. It's important to develop over winter but the base of the project is very nice and I think it will stay at top level at the start of the season.”
