4 Year WarrantySuperbike Advocates Racing and rider Tommy Bridewell score two fantastic top ten finishes in Sunday’s Superpole race and final full-length SBK race, as the fifth Superbike World Championship round concludes at Autodrom Most, a track the British rider was seeing for the first time this weekend.
First up, after a short morning warmup, was the Superpole sprint. Run over just ten laps, Bridewell started P15 thanks to his qualifying performance on Saturday. When the lights went out, the British rider did well to avoid the chaos caused by a crash for another rider and was able to make rapid progress, climbing quickly to eighth position. Separated from P1 by just five seconds from P1 at the mid-race point, a determined Bridewell stuck close to his immediate rivals. Holding eighth all the way to the line in a very fast paced race, an impressive Tommy was pleased to finish top ten and bank his first Superpole race points in what is his rookie WorldSBK season.
Eighth on the Race 2 grid thanks to his result in the morning’s SP race, Bridewell made a convincing start to the weekend’s final 22-lap race. Initially holding his position, Tommy found himself battling with several factory riders in the initial stages. Slipping to tenth on lap eight, the British rider focused on maintaining consistent pace over the second half of the race. With a strong result and important points well within his sights, a tenacious Bridewell powered his Ducati Panigale V4R to the line to secure tenth place. This maiden top ten finish for rookie Tommy is clear proof that the work of both rider and team is paying off as they continue to build momentum race by race.
Having banked more points this weekend than in any other round to date, Bridewell places eighteenth in the general standings, with 19 points. The sixth WorldSBK round is just around the corner, with the action set to resume on 29-31 May at Spain’s Motorland Aragón. Before then, Superbike Advocates Racing will take part in a test session at Misano World Circuit on 20-21 May.
Tommy Bridewell (Superbike Advocates Racing #46)
“A really positive weekend during which we built and made progress session after session. I think this is testament to the efforts of my team, and myself, that we are able to keep making this kind of progress. We achieved strong race results too; to be top eight in the sprint race and top ten in the last race, I don’t think we can ask for much more right now. This weekend has definitely given us another big leapfrog to where we want to be; we’ve just got to keep our feet on the ground and keep chipping away.”
