HomeGoing into last weekend there was a considerable amount of attention on the Devitt X Vanoni Moto Officina Team as they announced that Samy Panseri would be joining team rider Jack Bell as a Wild Card, after he secured an entry for the Pro class as a guest rider.
Jack and the Scrambler Ducati always performed well at King’s Lynn and Samy is an accomplished rider, therefore we were feeling confident for a good result this weekend.
We did in fact achieve good results, although getting there wasn’t quite straightforward as we hoped. First during free practice Samy had a heavy crash, the bike high siding on the still-green track.
In Heat 1 Jack took first place with Samy in fourth, while in Heat 2 - with both riders starting from the back - Jack finished second to George Pickering after battling his way through the field.
Unfortunately Samy was involved in another accident: under pressure from him, Leah Tokelove on the FTR 1200 lost control coming out of turn 4 onto the main straight and unable to avoid her he crashed into the air fence.
Heat 3 was thankfully uneventful with Jack P1 and Samy P3, with only Pickering splitting the two, the rest of the pack a distance away.
We went into the final with confidence. Jack Bell with first pick of gate and Samy third. The track, which had been unpredictable all day, was at its best for the final race and Jack took the lead on the first lap on turn 2, never really under pressure and always in control - as we had seen him many times at King’s Lynn.
Samy engaged in a race-long battle with Pickering for second leading most of the way and eventually taking P3 after a photo finish on the line.
Jack Bell (Devitt X Vanoni Moto Officina Team #93)
“I’m really happy to have boosted my championship lead after taking the overall win at Kings Lynn. We have had a lot of laps at this track testing so I was confident going into it. With tricky track conditions it was difficult to feel 100% comfortable but Max worked really hard on changes to the bike. It was very nice to have Italian rider Sammi alongside me as a wild card”
Samy Panseri (Devitt X Vanoni Moto Officina Team #85)
“Great to make my debut in the UK at such a great track, I had a good result and I feel that with a bit more set up time I could have gone even quicker. Thanks to the DTRA for the opportunity.”
Jack now leads the DTRA Championship with 3 wins out of 3 rounds, and opened up a 12 points lead over George Pickering on the Indian FTR1200. Next round is Redcar on 6th August.
