Patagonia in off-road

The tale of a 6-day, 1,000-km-long trip riding the DesertX. A perfect bike designed to face even the most demanding off-road.
The dream of everyone passionate.

When one thinks of trips to take at least once in a lifetime, in the list you cannot miss Patagonia. Boundless spaces, natural wonders and the joy of being on a motorcycle to reach some of the most remote places on the planet.

This is the story of the first Ducati Patagonia Expedition. For some, the adventure of a lifetime.

One of the most evocative places in the world.

For adventure lovers, the one in Patagonia is an itinerary not to be missed, in one of the most striking places in the world.

We are scheduled to arrive in El Calafate, in the heart of Patagonia, to explore the most iconic places in the far south, such as the Perito Moreno glacier and Torres del Paine and its granite towers, through boundless grasslands, deserts, lakes, and places of incredible charm.

Perito Moreno

Route 200 km (90 km unpaved)

The first stop is to the unmissable Los Glaciares National Park glacier, which greets us, icy cold, in all its majesty.
The road to the National Park is long and straight, but as soon as you enter the Park you are greeted by a valley with high mountains covered with snow.

Thus we arrive at Perito Moreno, the third largest freshwater reserve in the world after the two polar ice caps with its 250 square kilometers in size and 60 meters in height, which is in a constant movement of about 2 meters per day.

If you watch it in silence, you can hear the crunching of ice and the falling of blocks that break off and become icebergs in the icy waters of Lake Argentino, the largest in the entire country. You breathe in real nature at the top of your lungs, but the spectacle is one to take your breath away.

The desert of Patagonia

Route 300 km (120 km unpaved)

We then set off south along Ruta 40. We cross the Patagonian Desert, also known as the Patagonian Steppe, the largest desert in Argentina and the eighth largest in the world, which lies along the eastern slopes of the Andes to the Atlantic coast.

We alternate between ridden stretches on asphalt, where the DesertX surprises with its driving precision, and fast off-road tracks where with Rally map, we relive strong emotions reminiscent of Dakar rallies. Just before reaching Puerto Natales we cross the border into Chile to reach Torres del Paine with its incredible spires of granite.

Torres del Paine

Route 220 km (200km unpaved)

One of the most beautiful stops you can make in Patagonia, the dirt tour of Torres del Paine National Park. Standing on the footpegs, with the Riding Mode Enduro, it takes only a few hp to admire and respect boundless, unspoiled nature.

It is a dirt trail in a true paradise on earth, among lakes, small waterfalls, grassy expanses, glaciers, high mountains (2,884 m) and towers of granite. A stage that alone is worth a trip.

Among the beauties of Torres del Paine are surely the blue icebergs emerging from the glaciers and the pampas where the guanacos live, animals similar to llamas.

Capital nature in every glimpse, to be traversed with respect, filling your eyes with pure beauty.
