F.A.Q.

What does the Ducati X-Link app allow to do?

With the Ducati X-Link app, you can quickly and easily customise and monitor your Ducati off-road bike, in particular:

  • Customise the two riding modes by setting throttle response, engine brake, Ducati traction control and launch control;
  • Display key data directly on your smartphone, such as engine rpm, throttle position, temperature and air pressure;
  • Monitor engine hours and the three counters oil, Mid and Full Service (maintenance at Ducati Service are automatically saved in the Ducati database, but not by the Ducati X-Link);
  • Suggest the most appropriate suspension setup for the rider's weight, experience level and type of terrain;
  • Keep track of your maintenance operations, your suspension setups, the final pinion/sprocket ratio in use.
Which Ducati models are compatible with the X-Link app?

The X-Link app is dedicated to Ducati's portfolio of off-road models. You can always consult the list of compatible bikes on the Ducati website.

How does my smartphone communicate with the bike?

The X-Link app communicates with the bike via the dedicated Wi-Fi control unit: Ducati Com-Link.

The Ducati Com-Link control unit is not supplied as standard for all Ducati off-road models, so contact your local dealer to purchase and install it.

How do you connect the smartphone to the motorbike?

Once the Ducati Com-Link control unit is correctly fitted to your bike, you can start using the X-Link app by following these simple steps:

  • Check the name (SSID) and password of the Ducati Com-Link control unit's Wi-Fi network, shown on the back of the label;
  • Turn on the bike to power the Ducati Com-Link control unit (you can then turn off the bike to continue the configuration, in fact, the Com-Link control unit will remain powered for a further 2 minutes and 30 seconds with the engine off);
  • When the bike's Wi-Fi network is active and the LED on the handler bar switch turns steady blue (from the moment the bike is turned on, the operation takes about 15 seconds), connect the smartphone to the bike's Wi-Fi network;
  • Check that the LED on the handler bar switch turns steady white, to tell the connection is established;
  • Open the X-Link app on your smartphone, checking that you have installed the latest version available, and wait for the app to recognise the connection to the vehicle (the recognition procedure may take about ten seconds);
  • If this is the first time you are using X-Link, you will be asked to add the bike to the Garage in app by giving your consent by pressing the central button on the handler bar switch.

From this moment on, your bike has to stay connected via Wi-Fi with your smarthpone for the X-Link app to work properly.

How can you verify if the bike is correctly connected to the Ducati X-Link?

We suggest you perform the following step-by-step checks:

  • Verify that the Wi-Fi network is properly enabled on the smartphone;
  • Verify that the phone is connected to the bike's Wi-Fi network;
  • Verify in the garage section of the X-Link the connected bike card is present.

After successful connection:

  • In the Garage section of the X-Link, the card of the connected bike shows the Ducati red bar on the right;
  • The LED of the Ducati Com-Link control unit shows blue flashing;
  • The LED of the handler bar switch shows a steady blue colour.
Can you use the X-Link app with the bike turned off?

Yes, when the Ducati Com-Link control unit is fitted to the motorbike it stays powered for a further 2 minutes and 30 seconds after the vehicle is turned off.

Which functions of the app X-Link are allowed when the bike is turned on?

In general, although careful use of the X-Link app with the engine turned on is recommended, all functions are permitted both with the engine on and off.

Please note: for safety reasons it is not possible to change one of the two bike riding modes from the X-Link app if at least one of the following two conditions occurs:

1. the motorbike is in gear and not in neutral;

2. the motorbike is above 3000 rpm.

Can you use the X-Link app without the handlebar switch?

Yes, but the handlebar switch allows you:

  • View the connection status by means of the central LED status;
  • Confirm the addition of the bike to the Garage in app by pressing the middle button of the handler bar switch;
  • Confirm the configuration of a riding mode on the bike by pressing the middle button of the handler bar switch.
Is it possible to reset the service counters in the Service section in app?

The engine hours and the Oil, Mid and Full services are data in the engine control unit that cannot be reset by the app.

The specialised oil, Mid and Full Service indicate the deadlines for the relative interventions to be carried out uniquely at your trusted Ducati Service Centre.

Note. If your vehicle also has an hour meter, the engine hour counts visible in the app and in the hour meter may be slightly different. This is because the two counts are based on two different calculation systems.

With which operating systems the Ducati X-Link is available?

The app is available for Android devices with Android 10.0 or higher, and iOS devices with iOS 16.6 or higher.

Make sure your smartphone meets these requirements for the app to work properly.

Does the Ducati X-Link work on tablets or other devices?

The application is designed exclusively for use on smartphones. Operation on tablets, PCs, smartwatches, smart TVs or other devices is not supported and may cause faults or malfunctions.

Is it recommended to use specific smartphones to connect the Ducati X-Link app to my Ducati bike?

Ducati continuously tests many of the most popular and recent smartphones, however it is not possible to guarantee the correct operation of the Ducati X-Link system with all the smartphones on the market and all their software.

The functionalities of the app have been tested and validated with the following smartphones: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy A54 and Galaxy S20 FE, Google Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7, Realme GT 5G and Realme C31, Oukitel WP9, iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13 Mini.

In what languages is the Ducati X-Link app available?

The app is available in the following languages: Italian and English.

Is a Ducati account required to use the app?

No, no user login is required to use the Ducati X-Link.

Can you back-up the configuration in the app and copy it from one smartphone to another?

 Not yet, we are working on it.

To date, only the sharing of a riding mode is possible.

What is the Ducati Com-Link unit and what functionalities does it provide?

The Ducati Com-Link control unit allows the X-Link app to communicate with the engine control unit via Wi-Fi channel.

The connection status of the Ducati Com-Link can be seen on the central LED on the handler bar switch, which is off if the Ducati Com-Link is off or mounted incorrectly.

Note: The Com-Link unit remains powered for a further 2 minutes and 30 seconds after the bike is turned off.

What is the significance of the handler bar switch's central LED?

The central LED on the handler bar switch indicates the status of the Wi-Fi connection:

  • Blinking blue: Wi-Fi network initialisation in progress;
  • Steady blue: Wi-Fi network initialised;
  • Steady white: Wi-Fi network connected to a device;
  • Solid purple: Launch Control active (thus temporarily hiding the Wi-Fi connection indication).

For more details, please refer to the bike's owner's manual, available at: https://www.ducati.com/ww/en/service-maintenance/owner-manuals .

How many devices can my bike be paired with?

The Ducati Com-Link system offers the possibility of connecting one and only one smartphone at a time. So always remember to check that you are connected to your bike's Wi-Fi network and not to other Wi-Fi networks.

However, there is no limit to the number of bikes that can be added to the Garage in the X-Link app.

Can you use the phone with the lock screen?

It is not possible to use the smartphone with the screen lock, as there are no features that require operation in the background.

Can I stay connected to the motorbike with the Ducati Connect even when I turn off the vehicle?

The Wi-Fi network password can be found on the label on the back of the Ducati Com-Link.

If the password is not fully visible, it is advisable to contact Ducati customer service by providing:

  1. bike VIN;
  2. photo of the Ducati Com-Link unit (label side);
  3. the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) of the Ducati Com-Link which, if not visible on the label, can be read from your smartphone by scanning Wi-Fi networks.
