Let’s enjoy this final challenge

Yet another splendid Ducati podium, even more significant today since three Italian riders take the honours. An exciting race and a finale that rewards Di Giannantonio with a fantastic first win in MotoGP, one that was as greatly sought as it was well deserved. An opportunity that, with great determination, he was able to seize after the second place scored in the Sprint Race. Another jewel in a season that confirms the talent and professionalism of our riders and their teams: in particular, all my congratulations go to Team Gresini and their excellent work.

For the world championship, on a weekend of such importance and lived with alternating performances by the two contenders, Pecco was able to land a champion’s blow exactly at the crucial moment, when a strong and clear sign was most needed. He confirmed his “presence” when this was most important, in the style that he always shows in these circumstances. He pulled a start of the race with a majestic, almost perfect stroke: already taking the lead at the first curve, then dominating and pulling away with only a combative and uncontainable Diggia able to follow. He was also undoubtedly lucky in that forced overtaking attempt that finally relegated him to second place; and so securing fundamental points in the struggle for the title at the expense of Jorge, who unfortunately in Sunday’s race was unable to repeat the performance of the day before, that had earned him a faultless and decisive victory. A Sprint Race in which, once again, he demonstrated all his talent with cliff-hanger overtakes, as well as the spirit of a true combatant that will be putting everything on the line during the last week end.

However, I would like to point out that the problem suffered by Jorge on Sunday or by Pecco on Saturday, comparable with any mechanical problem whatsoever, are among those that can simply happen and which must always be taken into account during a season.

When these occur at crucial moments, they are often considered reasons that are able to tip the scale on one side rather than the other, but in actual fact the result of a championship is decided by a combination of situations and, often, also by mistakes made by riders, teams and manufacturers alike.

If we really want to grow and improve, I believe that it is these shortcomings that we must analyse and try to avoid: in fact as far as the rest is concerned, on whatever does not depend on us, there is very little we can do.

Enea’s race deserves acclaim, at least partially and for a very indicative fact: having remained at the rear, in the final laps he staged a tenacious comeback, unleashing a pace that allowed him to score the track record in the race, on the last lap!

Sincere congratulations go to Pramac for the prestigious team title, a result pursued with the dedication, ability and loyalty that I have always appreciated both on and off the track.

Let’s now go to Valencia for the conclusive act, let’s enjoy this final challenge with the awareness and serenity that, whatever might happen, will be a success: … yessss…a Ducati success!
