Discover morePresented in 2008, the Monster S4Rs Tricolore represents the final evolution of the first Monster generation, originally launched in 1993. A model that, by concept and significance, can be considered a true “final edition” of the original Monster family, recognizable by its round headlight and softly shaped fuel tank.
The Tricolore livery recalls a long-standing Ducati tradition: special limited-edition models created to represent the very top of the range. Bikes such as the 750 F1, the 851 and the 1098 Tricolore all share this philosophy, which has since become iconic.
At the heart of the S4Rs Tricolore is the 998 cc Testastretta engine, a liquid-cooled L-twin with four-valve desmodromic distribution. The 100 mm bore and short-stroke configuration allow high revs and benchmark performance: 130 hp with strong and immediate torque delivery. The compact combustion chamber geometry, combined with advanced electronic management, ensures efficiency and smooth performance throughout the entire power curve.
From both an aesthetic and technical standpoint, the bike retains the signature elements of the Monster family: trellis frame, single-sided swingarm and stacked twin exhaust. The Tricolore livery with its longitudinal stripe enhances the shape of the fuel tank and strengthens the model’s visual identity. These features are paired with clear racing-derived equipment, including numerous carbon fiber components and dedicated technical solutions such as the distinctive triangular oil cooler.
Among the less visible updates, the fuel tank features a redesigned internal structure integrating a new fuel pump while maintaining the same external shape.
The Monster S4Rs Tricolore ultimately stands as the highest expression of the first Monster generation: a motorcycle that combines high performance, refined craftsmanship and symbolic value, bringing to a close a defining chapter in Ducati history.
