Discover moreHaving made its Superbike World Championship debut during round five at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit of Imola, team Motocorsa Racing announces its participation in the seventh round of the production-derived series, taking place from 21 to 23 June at the Misano World Circuit.
Entrusted with taking the Motocorsa Racing team’s Ducati Panigale V4R SBK on track is youngster Samuele Cavalieri, who races for the same team, headed up by Lorenzo Mauri, in the Italian SBK championship and currently lies second in the rider standings.
Following the encouraging results scored at Imola, the Italian team now has another opportunity to pit itself against the best in the reigning class. The team is keen to continue growing and take another step towards its main goal for the future, which is to be a permanent entry in World Superbike.
Lorenzo Mauri: “Having debuted in World SBK at Imola with an experienced rider like Zanetti, who is also a Ducati test rider, we now want to put our team to the test with a young and talented rider but one who in experienced at international level, like Samuele Cavalieri. We are not setting ourselves any specific goals for this second outing, only to put the potential of our team to the test and allow our rider, rather a revelation in the Italian CIV this season, to line up with the best guys in the class. We remain focused on the Italian championship of course, but I think a comparison at a higher level is essential in order to evaluate and help us to confirm our future plans”.
Samuele Cavalieri: “I’m really pleased to have this amazing possibility to debut as a wildcard in WorldSBK at Misano. It will definitely be an important step in my career as a rider and I intend to do my very best. It will be important to work well with my team, quickly identifying a good work method and understanding the bike, which is very different from what I use in the CIV. It won’t be easy, but I know I can count on the support of a great team. I can’t wait to get out on track and see the Superbike champions up close, I have a lot to learn from them. As well as Lorenzo Mauri, my thanks go to all my sponsors who make this wildcard possible, and everyone who supports me”.
