Discover moreYet again, Ducati scored another “poker” at a venue that is the most beautiful in the world, a podium all of our own, with the three teams fully represented. Absolutely the best way to reward our wonderful fans who, as always, created a splendid environment for us, with a contagious joy at a track that is our home, one which moreover represents a valuable technical test, given its outstanding and recognised features.
Marc triumphed, flaunting yet another masterpiece in a winner-take-all fashion, piling practice and qualifying, rounds, Sprint Race and MotoGP, best honouring his 100th career pole position. He was perfect throughout the weekend, rounding up with a win that was also the result of cunning, patience and the ability to manage every facet of the race: he was able to counter and contain the initial fury of his rivals and then step up the pace at the decisive moment, tearing off, imposing his dominance with a pace that was unchallengeable for the others, to the point of making everything seem all too easy on a track that is not even one of his favourites...
We were treated to a spectacular first few laps with Marc and Pecco immediately crossing paths, between overtakes, counter-attacks and having to deal with an indomitable and ever-present Alex Marquez. Bagnaia, in particular, gave everything: generous as always and also “pushed” by the fans that showed him all their affection. After a great start he fought like a lion and was the protagonist of a unique performance, a tussle reminiscent of yesteryear. Then, unfortunately, he suffered more than others from the normal loss of grip and the consequent vibrations and shakes in the final part of the race. However, the signs of recovery were there, and I especially appreciated his reaction, the grit and drive of an undisputed champion. We have to build on those early laps and make sure that he can express himself for the whole race: continue to put all our efforts into finding new solutions and to further improve his performance.
Alex proved yet again how strong and consistent he is, always “on the ball”. It must never be forgotten that being consistently at the top in the premier class is not only difficult from a technical viewpoint, but also requires a maturity that needs time to be assimilated; he, on the other hand, handles everything like a veteran, getting us all too used to his consistent results and his great speed on all tracks.
Last but not least, we must mention a determined and bold Diggia. He put on record a great comeback, clinching a spot on the podium, his first at Mugello in MotoGP: a remarkable race and a result that means a great deal for the Team. My heartfelt thanks to the whole team that means, and gives, so much; but today my thoughts go first and foremost to our fantastic supporters: a huge thank you that comes from the heart and in the heart will remain as the fondest of memories, always.
Come on, Ducati!
