Marc Márquez finishes seventh at Silverstone with the Ducati Lenovo Team. Francesco Bagnaia crashes out

The Ducati Lenovo Team completed the twelfth Grand Prix of the season with a seventh-place finish for Marc Márquez at the end of the 20-lap race at Silverstone. Francesco Bagnaia's race came to an early end on lap eight following a crash.

Márquez had a good start from row two as he made his way up to third position. After running fourth in the early laps, he was then overtaken first by his brother Alex and then by Acosta. In the closing stages, Marc experienced another significant drop in grip, ultimately finishing seventh. Bagnaia tried to find a competitive race pace as he improved lap after lap. Pecco's race came to an early close following a crash while running fifteenth.

As the twelfth event of the season draws to a close, Marc Márquez is fourth in the championship standings with 200 points. Francesco Bagnaia is eighth, 57 points adrift of his teammate. The Ducati Lenovo Team sits third in the teams' standings (343 points), while Ducati is second in the constructors' championship.

The Ducati Lenovo Team will resume proceedings on Friday, August 28th, for the opening day of the Grand Prix of Aragon.

“We knew that this weekend might have been more challenging than usual. I was quick on a couple of occasions but not over the race distance, and today I didn't manage the tyre wear well. We couldn't find the right speed and, in the end, we did a bit worse than expected. We're working on being consistent and competitive on the less favourable tracks, but we know it's impossible to always have the perfect bike.”

Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team) – DNF
“Unfortunately, here at Silverstone, I struggled throughout the weekend. I knew I couldn't battle against the top riders in the race, so I tried to take it steady while aiming to improve with each lap. I was pulling it off and lapping in the 1'59s without destroying the rear tyre – until the crash. I did not expect the front to tuck on corner exit. That was a really unusual crash, maybe the most bizarre crash of my career. We will evaluate the data to understand what happened.”
