Marc Márquez wins the Sachsenring Sprint with the Ducati Lenovo Team. Bagnaia seventh at the flag

The Ducati Lenovo Team was victorious in the eleventh Sprint of the season at the Sachsenring courtesy of Marc Márquez, who claimed his nineteenth Saturday victory and became the rider with the most Sprint wins. Francesco Bagnaia finished seventh at the end of the 15-lap encounter.

Márquez, who got a good launch from pole position, managed his pace at the front perfectly while denying his brother Alex any opportunity to overtake all the way to the chequered flag. From the fourth row, Bagnaia recovered three positions at the start. Despite showing a solid pace, Pecco was unable to make further progress and ultimately finished seventh.

The Ducati Lenovo Team will be back in action tomorrow at 9:40 local time (GMT +2) for the warm up, which will be followed by the Grand Prix of Germany, contested over 30 laps from 14:00.

Marc Márquez (#93 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 1st
“We had a clear strategy: get a good start and keep the lead, then ride at our own pace. I tried not to overdo it and to avoid any mistakes, while keeping the situation under control. The feeling was excellent and I was able to lap at quite a natural rhythm. Let's see how it goes tomorrow with the medium tyre. This track isn't particularly demanding on the body, and that helps. Alex (Márquez) was quicker than me, but I was able to keep him behind.”

Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 7th
“I'm still struggling with rear grip: qualifying is where we suffer the most, and we couldn't do better than eleventh. I had a good start to the Sprint and managed to stay with the riders in front until the grip dropped. Unfortunately, I can't make the rear slide like the other Ducati riders because, if I do, I can't accelerate properly afterwards. I tried to stay in Martín's slipstream but ended up taking a few too many risks. Seventh place is a good compromise considering the difficulties we're experiencing.”
