Nicolò Bulega arrives at Misano firmly in first place in the world championship standings, with a 108-point lead over his team-mate Iker Lecuona.
The Spaniard, fresh from his impressive performance in MotoGP at the Balaton Circuit (Hungary) where he secured an excellent seventh place replacing Alex Marquez on the Gresini Racing team's Ducati Desmosedici GP, is chasing his first Superbike victory after 15 consecutive second-place finishes.
Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #11)
“There's no point hiding the fact that the Misano round is very exciting. There will be lots of people cheering me on and I'll have family and friends supporting me in the paddock. What's more, I've never won in Superbike here at Misano, and that gives me extra motivation.”
Iker Lecuona (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #7)
“I'm happy to be back in Superbike after a great weekend in MotoGP. There are high expectations for this round, which is obviously very important for my team and for Ducati. We're chasing our first win: we've been chasing it for many races, but Nicolò is doing an incredible job and has deserved every success.”
