Rinaldi on defense takes the tenth place in race 1 at Jerez

Barni Racing Team rider Michael Rinaldi ended tenth the race 1 at Circuit de Jerez Angel Nieto conquering sixth more points in the Championship standings. 


After a positive Friday Rinaldi confirmed his eighth position in the early morning FP3 focused on gaining a good spot in Superpole. 

The rider from Rimini was able to improve his time lap by lap until the 1’39.090, one second and two tenth faster than yesterday. 

In a very tight timesheet he was placed in tenth position but only 2 tenth of a second far from the fourth best time. 

Race 1 

Rinaldi got of well from the grid maintaining his tenth position. Despite scoring his fastest lap in race at lap 3 (1’41.363) he suffered in the first half of the race being overtaken by Davies and Haslam

Rinaldi gritted his teeth and he was able to be consistent in the second part of the race. After Torres went out of the battle the number-21 fought for the ninth place packed in a group of three riders until the very end of the race. In the end, his efforts paid off, duelling long and hard with Cortese and Haslam, Rinaldi didn’t manage to pass them for an inch but under the checkered flag he entered in the top ten by the crash of Lowes at the last corner.

Today's result see Rinaldi now in twelfth position in the championship standings with 50 points.

"It was a race on defense because from the first lap I understood that something was not working well. Because of that I tried to manage the race. The situation prevent me to push as I wanted and the result was not that I expected. My hope for tomorrow is to be in the right condition to ride as I want and to show what I’m able to do".
