The aerodynamics of the new Panigale V4 R evolve with the introduction, for the first time on a homologated bike, of Corner Sidepods, which exploit the same principles as those used by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, which was the first team to introduce them in 2021.
Contrary to the winglets that are more efficient when the bike is in a vertical position, Corner Sidepods are aerodynamic devices designed to function in proximity to the ground, when the bike is turning. The ground effect is exploited to generate an aerodynamic-like system of forces that allows for higher cornering speed, which translates into faster lap times.
When riding, particularly at high speed, the rider clearly feels that the bike, having reached the apex and at maximum lean angle, naturally moves toward the inside, tightening the line with no need for correction by the rider, so that when exiting, the acceleration phase takes place with a tighter line.
