Born in the wind tunnel

With a silhouette sculpted by the wind, the Panigale V4 R is pure aerodynamics. It is the world’s first homologated road bike to be equipped with Corner Sidepods. Aerodynamic development has been carried out by Ducati Corse, the same department responsible for the MotoGP bikes’ aerodynamics.
Corner Sidepods for faster cornering

The aerodynamics of the new Panigale V4 R evolve with the introduction, for the first time on a homologated bike, of Corner Sidepods, which exploit the same principles as those used by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, which was the first team to introduce them in 2021.

Contrary to the winglets that are more efficient when the bike is in a vertical position, Corner Sidepods are aerodynamic devices designed to function in proximity to the ground, when the bike is turning. The ground effect is exploited to generate an aerodynamic-like system of forces that allows for higher cornering speed, which translates into faster lap times.

When riding, particularly at high speed, the rider clearly feels that the bike, having reached the apex and at maximum lean angle, naturally moves toward the inside, tightening the line with no need for correction by the rider, so that when exiting, the acceleration phase takes place with a tighter line.

Redesigned winglets for greater load

The aerodynamic design of the Panigale V4 R includes new winglets that ensure higher performance than those on the Panigale V4 S and the previous R version. Each two-element winglet, seamlessly integrated into the form of the top fairing, is characterised by a greater wingspan and by a larger, uniquely shaped trailing edge. With this update, the vertical load generated increases by 25% with the same aerodynamic resistance, a value that translates to +4.8 kg at 270 km/h, and +6kg at 300 km/h.

More efficient front air vent

To obtain the best possible performance when racing, the Panigale V4 R is equipped with a dynamic front air vent, developed in collaboration with Ducati Corse, that increases the volume of intake air. With respect to the vent on the Panigale V4, the bottom edge is extended outwards by 70 mm, increasing filter air pressure by 0.6% at 300 km/h. This increase ensures an equivalent increase in air density, for a power boost of 1.3 hp at the same speed.

Behind the fairing as in MotoGP

On the Panigale V4 R the rider enjoys a level of aerodynamic protection that immerses them in a sort of “bubble” of stable air, similar to the sensation aboard the Desmosedici GP. This allows the rider to be quicker along the straight and “relax” between one braking point and the next.

Form and function in perfect harmony

Perfectly sculpted details and a more efficient aerodynamic design with a profile that heightens the bike’s agility when changing direction. Panigale V4 R, functionality transformed into pure aesthetics.
