Discover moreIt was a sensational Saturday for the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team.
At the iconic TT Circuit in Assen (Netherlands), Nicolò Bulega and Iker Lecuona put on a thrilling Race 1, fought to the very last lap.
The Spanish rider (starting from third position) immediately took the lead, pursued by his team-mate (who had secured his third pole position in the first three rounds of the season), who regained the lead on the second lap. The positions remained unchanged until a few drops of rain shook things up.
On lap 16, Lecuona attacked Bulega, sparking a spectacular duel that ended with the Italian taking the win.
Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #11)
“It was a really good race. I felt I had a good feeling, then when it started to rain, I preferred not to take any risks. Iker overtook me and I dropped back behind him to see what his strategy was. The track dried out quickly, and I pushed again to take the win.”
Iker Lecuona (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #7)
“I'm very happy. It's my fourth consecutive second place, and that means our level has improved a lot. Obviously, coming close to victory and not quite managing to take it leaves you wanting a bit more in terms of satisfaction, but I have to focus solely on the progress we're making.”
