Complicated Sunday for Barni Racing Team in Argentina

Fourteenth place in Superpole Race, eleventh in race 2. These results concluded the Argentinean weekend for the Barni Racing Team in the penultimate round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, held at Villicum Circuit.

Added to the twelfth place in race 1 these placements bring Rinaldi to 118 points in the overall championship standings.

Superpole Race

The dowgrade of temperatures made the track faster than Saturday. In the Sprint Race (10 laps) the flagbearer of the team from Bergamo started from the sixth place conquered in Superpole, but he had a steady start and in the first laps he came down until sixteenth position. In the second hal of the 10 laps race. Rinaldi found his rhythm between 1'39 and half and 1'40 and a half managing to recover on Del Bianco and Melandri to cross fourteenth the finish lane.

Race 2

As a result of the Superpole Race placement, the Barni Racing Team's rider was moved backwards in the fourth row on the starting grid for race 2.

Starting from tenth spot, the Ducati Panigale V4 R #21 had a good start and moved to eighth.

On lap seven, Rinaldi overtook Cortese, taking seventh position, and thanks to a good pace, he set off on the chase of Lowes. However, a sudden drop of the rear tyre forced him to raise his pace and in the last four laps he had to give way to Mercado, Laverty, Haslam and Torres, finishing the race in eleventh position.

Marco Barnabò - Team Principal

"We were expecting to get something more in race 2 because the pace in the first part of the race was good, unfortunately Michael suffered a significant drop of the rear tyre and this brought him back. This weekend it was all very complicated and we struggled a lot".

Michael Ruben Rinaldi #21 Superpole Race P14 / Race 2 P11

"After a very good Friday we had to face many problems. In race 2 it seemed that we were able to overcome them until the rear tyre suddenly dropped. I ended up with the tyre almost destroyed and that's why I lost so many positions in the last part of the race".
