Marc Márquez and the Ducati Lenovo Team make the difference in the Misano Sprint to take the win. Francesco Bagnaia thirteenth

The Ducati Lenovo Team took victory in the fourteenth Sprint of the season thanks to Marc Márquez, who put together a superb performance at the Misano World Circuit 'Marco Simoncelli'. Francesco Bagnaia was thirteenth at the flag.

Márquez had a great start from second position on the grid and went side by side with Bezzecchi before overtaking him for the lead at turn one. In the first half of the race, Marc managed to pull away by one second and, in the final stages, pushed hard again to prevent his rival from making a comeback. Bagnaia, fourteenth on the grid, finished the encounter in thirteenth place after battling in a six-rider pack.

The Ducati Lenovo Team will be back on track tomorrow at 9:40 local time (GMT +2) for the warm-up, which will be followed by the Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, to be contested over a 27-lap distance from 14:00.

Marc Márquez (#93 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 1st
“It was an intense race, which was decided mainly by the rear-tyre choice. I hadn't tried the medium compound again after FP1, but I saw that in the afternoon those who had used it were a lot more consistent, and that was what convinced me to use it. I trusted the data from Ducati and, in hindsight, we made the right choice. The key was to take the lead at the start and push in the opening laps to prevent Bezzecchi from making the difference with the soft tyre – same as Aragón – and then manage the race from there. I believe we'll have to focus on our strong points until the end of the season, instead of obsessing over what the others do better than us. This morning we brought out the true potential of the bike after saving our energy a little on Friday, and we took maximum points.”

Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 13th
“The race went more or less as expected. Unfortunately, I cannot ride the way I'd like, therefore I have to do my best with what's available. I still lack feeling and find myself riding defensively: the bike pushes a lot under braking and becomes hard to get stopped. The difference with the other Ducati riders is clear in terms of bike behaviour and performance, but at the moment we haven't yet been able to understand the reason why. We can only continue to work in order to turn things around.”
